Full-on but fun every day
Acting Team Leader (Current Employee) – Exmouth, ENG – 5 February 2014
Devon County Council provide good training throughout my working life which enables me to keep up to date with any policy or procedure changes and ensures I provide person centred care, with dignity and as per the support care plan.I am in the midst of my NVQ3 which is going well, and which I would like to complete when I relocate to Dorset. My husband has accepted a promotion within his estate agency group, hence our move.I currently work in a residential dementia care home as day care assistant and relief team leader covering annual leave, emergencies, and sickness. I probably work 50 percent in each job title, per month,The benefits of acting up mean I know far more aspects of the job, most importantly the paperwork and liaising with other healthcare professionals daily.I take full responsibility of one or both floors and at full capacity we have 40 residents. The care and anxilliary staff look to me for leadership and decision making.I know my clients very well and really enjoy the interaction between us all, I hold regular activity sessions as I have experience in this field too.I have attended many courses and feel my experience of dementia is now strong. The daily shift is varied and never dull. Flexibility and attention to detail is essential, and not worrying if you miss your break from time to time.
