Busy Professional Workplace.
Operational Support Grade HMP (Former Employee) – HMP Haverigg, Millom, Cumbria. – 14 February 2014
In my position as an Operational Support Grade I carried out varying roles, my last role being that of Night Patrol.
My most enjoyable but at the same time most frustrating role would have been that of Security Analyst / Vetting. Getting the information together and making sense of it requires time and patience but at the same time can test you.
Night Patrol was good in the fact that you were team based, however the most frustrating aspect had to be walking the fence, although a necessity probably the most boring.
My Co-workers were of a varied mix like most work place's but overall friendly and always willing to help. The same can be said of management, always encouraging and would help where they could.
The main problem with the Job is that there was no progression to move into Management or supervisor roles, not with out becoming an Officer and this did not appeal to me. This was probably the most frustrating thing about the Job as-well, knowing you could not move on.
Abiltiy to move to different roles.
No promotion prospects regardless of role.
