Good for advancing in hospitality
Head Housekeeper (Former Employee) – Portsmouth, Hampshire – 10 May 2017
A ridiculous pay scheme was introduced called pay for progression. Basically meaning progress yourself through the company by working your butt off, holding and helping at other site's and hoping your manager will notice and with no help from management either (as this has to come all from) you and get a pay increase. Fair right? Wrong! This can mean a head of department earning a little as only 20p more an hour than a new beginner knowing zilch!! Causing massive friction in the team. They've wasted millions on ridiculous idea's such as brilliant beginnings and brilliant conversations, when that money could of been awarded to hard workers. They've scaled back on everything now and standards have fallen, as have the lack of care when recruiting ops and area manager's. They got rid of the cluster manager role and have been going down hill ever since. There's no care left, it just felt like a depressing place to work in the end and never felt happier since leaving!
Salary expectations, management style and poor leadership
