I was Deputy Manager and responsible for the running of the sub post office. I was responsible for taking and issuing money with face to face customers. Every day a balance of cash was done and ordering stock and money was very important so that customers would always have the confidence that when they came to collect benefits there was the cash to deliver. There were a number of responsibilities as it was a high security risk with such a lot of money held and always had to be confident that the positions were never left empty.
I was employed in this role after I went to train in the Post Office for 8 weeks every Friday and Saturday for no wage as I was more interested in the training than the money at that time I was working at Dewhirst Monday - Thursday but was threatened with redundancy and knew I needed something to fll back on if this happened, this didnt happen as I was offered a full time position in the office.
