I joined after graduating from uni in Customer Services, after being told I would have a good chance of moving into their Marketing Team within 6 months. Throughout my time in CS I was given good feedback both by clients and mgmt. and then moved into their WOW team - for those CS agents that excel. I stayed behind and went in early to do extra work with their marketing team but was told in the end that the marketing placement had been cancelled for that year. Whilst I enjoyed my time there, this was largely due to my colleagues and the benefits Homeserve provided. The role was a thankless one, with customers and managers alike often berating you and you never knew when you were going to be told to leave. There was no job security and no change for progression despite excellent feedback in all appraisals for the 18 months I was there.
