Fun place to work and good benefits
Opticial Consultant (Current Employee) – Leicestershire – 8 October 2012
I work in the Boots Opticians part of the Boots store, customer service is very important as it is health care and people will be making a big purchase on glasses so providing the best service and help to the customer is vital. I carry out tests before the eye test on the customer such as pressures and visual fields to check for any health problems. I will then hand over to the optician with all the information they need, I.e last sight test, current glasses, results of tests etc.
Everyone is really friendly and helpful when you start as an optical consultant and will give you all the training you need to be the best at your job,
The training course start about a month after you start at Boots and you can go as far as you want.
I really love the interaction with customers, i like the Reception work and helping the customer choose the glasses and even talking to them about contact lenses.
If you work full time you will work from around 9am until 6pm depending on the size of the store. Small stores close at 6pm where as the big stores will close later but you will start later if you have to work late.
Management are really supportive, you get great benefits such as staff discounts, 70% off glasses and contact lenses, up to 3 pairs a year.
25% off boots brand products in store. 10% off non branded boots products in store.
chance to advance yourself and a good solid company.
can be long hours, lots of standing.
