i worked in a care home in the south, the residents are amazing, the home was a nice environment, was always on the go you would have to be doing a task on top of a task, the management wasn't all they good you raise problems to the manager and she would just sweep it under the rug and forget about it, it felt that you never had a social life even if you had a day off they would always ring you to do extra shifts, the hardest part of the job was not being able to sit down and talk with the residents as if you did this then the manager would come up to you and tell you off for speaking to a resident!! the most enjoyable part of the job was meeting all the lovely residents.
but as working there i wouldnt recommend it, pay is ok if you do extra hours, when new people join and seem to think they have the priority to run the shift when they have been at the home a month i do not agree on because in a month you cant not get to know over 40 residents and there needs, also some care assistants got paid breaks and others who have been there 5 or more years never get their breaks paid for
free lunches if you worked 12 h our shifts
sometimes you dont get a break
