Good Company Overall
Manager (Former Employee) –  Various19 August 2019
Excellent company benefits however you are expected to put in the hours which ultimately means a very poor work life balance. Expectation is that you are predominately on call 24/7.

Terrible
Warehouse Operative/Picker (Current Employee) –  Wincanton plc2 June 2019
Management hasn't a clue, bullying and vindictive behavior disguised as business needs, No health and safety meeting, unfair treatment to older workers. God help you if you have a loss time accident you will be treated like you have killed someone. unskilled MANAGEMENT WITH NO EXPERIENCE AND POOR LEVEL OF EDUCATION THAT ACTUALLY DO VERY LITTLE BUT HARASS YOU FOR OVERTIME AND TAKE NO NOTICE OF WORKING REGULATIONS. Money is ok but overtime is poor for shift work. M D is arrogant with no people management skills and a poor level of knowledge of running a warehouse.

Team Leader / Stock Controller (Former Employee) –  Holytown26 April 2019
I worked there for many years and I can not say a bad word. There were better days and a few worse as it happens in life, but everyone was always nice and helpful. The ethics and culture of work here is unique. I was sorry to leave.

Financial Controller Defence (Former Employee) –  Kent & Yeovil11 January 2019
Previously worked for Product Support based in Sittingbourne and was acquired by Wincanton in 2008. Product Support became the Defence Division of Wincanton and the Finance Office closed and moved to Yeovil.

The Group included a Group Procurement function and therefore all purchasing was directed through Head Office. This resulted in Defence subsidiaries having to pay more for some products and services from the same suppliers than they had previously.

Not happy
Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Hoo, Rochester2 January 2019
As a warehouse it was a good workplace. Learned to drive a forklift and reach truck. People were really nice but everything else is really bad. Management doesn't know anything (literally), Team leaders can't handle their jobs. Job is too dangerous and bad for health at least for the salary they are offering. Shift patterns are terrible, sometimes working 6 days in a row. Working days are scattered, might be working 5 days, have a 1 day off and work another 4 days And times change as well (6.00-14.00, 14.00-22.00)
Pros
People
Cons
Location, shift patterns, management

No work - life balance at all
Warehouse operative (Current Employee) –  Greenford26 November 2018
I've been working in this warehouse for 12 years on a night shift.
I feel exhausted already. Job in difficult conditions(very cold) and I've only one 40 min break for 10hrs. It is not enough. There is a big pressure all the time, everything is converted into percents and I sometimes feel like a robot. The hand hurts if you wear the scanner all night. You can not even sit down and have a coffee while working to rest and warm up for a moment.
You have to be able to work on weekends for the same rate. There is a problem to book your holidays, especially in summer and at Christmas.
If you have a family then I do not recommend this place. The hourly rate is not the worst, but the rest is unacceptable.
Pros
Rate of pay
Cons
Big pressure, cold

Warehouse Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Tunbridge Wells, Kent30 October 2018
A good structured organisation with effective management skills. I did enjoy the diverse ethnicity where everyone is treated with respect

I learnt the Wincanton process of meeting customer requirements with their home delivery and also taking a sustainable competitive advantage over its competitors
Pros
Discounts from M&S
Cons
Long hours

Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Northampton, Northamptonshire29 October 2018
Could be good place to work, however the management is not the greatest. Employees are not always treated fair and equally.
Good workmates , always willing to help and support.

mto (Current Employee) –  Yeovil9 October 2018
where i work is a small part of the wincanton group, and as such, its hard to progress and get any sort of promotion, i have all the skills sets that the job offers and get so little reward, having worked there for 10 years and seeing people with less drive getting higher reward, i feel its time to look elsewhere and find a new reward
Pros
the hours of work
Cons
no prospect of wage increase or promotion

Friendly place to work
Bond Clerk (Former Employee) –  Faraday Avenue ,Coleshill21 August 2018
Work is simple regarding knowing job required within capabilities of almost every prospective employee, rates of pay are excellent above average for most warehouses in the country. Excellent working environment, pleasant atmosphere with managers and fellow employees. The only drawbacks are one weekend in every three, very little overtime available even at peak times i.e. Christmas and communication with various departments i.e. planning, shift managers etc is poor. However guaranteed hours and very stable job
Pros
sometimes free luches

wages was nowhere near what they mention in adverts and the bonus scheme isnt worth chasing loads to try and get a bonus

Packing Operative (Former Employee) –  Tamworth24 July 2018
I had to work long unsociable hours which consisted of 12 hour shifts, my job role was to pack and unpack boxes that had carried books. The job was pretty easy however, peeling stickers off books whilst standing for 12 hours can bring pain to legs and lowerback.

Friendly staff

Transport Clerk (nights) (Former Employee) –  Huntingdon27 June 2018
Working nights within a small fun team. Interaction with about 50 HCV drivers every night which meant a robust attitude was definitely required! Lots of repetitive admin but worth it for the atmosphere.

Warehouse Coordinator (Current Employee) –  Huntingdon30 May 2018
Start day with daily briefing outlining yesterdays achievements as a shift and todays expectations followed by any safety issues raised. After deployment is done team leaders briefing with shift manager outlining any concerns i.e. over or under manned, trailer availability thus giving us the option to move resources across departments.
Managing individual performance and reviewing where needed, ensuring continuity of work across all department and time management.
Pros
Open door policy
Cons
