The manager I am unfortunate enough to still work for Is a terrible example of a micro manager, she also seems to take enjoyment from public ally degrading staff through aggressive language and swearing regularly, to the point it has even been mentioned on trip advisor reviews

Luckily she is supposed to be leaving to go to another site soon
Pros
Decent wage for the work.
Cons
Micromanagement. Poor HR.

It`s fast paced, your brain is on all the time so you can almost anticipate what needs doing. Also always make sure the client is sure of what they asked for because, even if they change their mind and want a different coffee, they`ll get it for free...after blaming you for getting it wrong. But it`s great to introduce new products to the clients, help them when they struggle with the kids and toys, and making sure they leave satisfied and in a better mood than when they came in. My managers were kind and approachable, praised my work and encouraged me to achieve more, my colleagues were kind and helpful when I would forget something, like how to make a fancy coffee with syrup, marshmallows, chocolate chips but not forgetting the skinny milk. Or Remember the names of the numerous cakes. Great for a youngster but I haven`t been one for a long time. I do regret not asking to follow a different path at the company, but I was at a very busy coffee branch, I never stopped and got a lovely leaving present at the end of the training, on top of the job offer, but my joints were painful when I finally sat in the car. But loved it. And the people I worked with. And the inicial introduction training was given by a lovely lady that never lost her temper not even when some trainees misbehaved.

A clear bully culture by management, no ownership and no intent to change! Clearly told to manage team members out if they dont fit with no support or concerns.

Management are too stretched, and everything is the most important thing. No structure. Too much admin leaves guests waiting and given poor service. No food on shift either which I know is not a given but it is a good perk to offer. Generally just felt undervalued.
Pros
Work/Life balance.
Cons
Stressful, Lack of leadership, Unorganised

I worked at brewers fayre for a few months, management was very bad and would only have one manger for weeks at a time, unorganised and threatened too fire staff over mental health and I got fired because of my mental health. Security is terrible, every other week the police would have too be called because of an incident that would get out of hand, half the staff were incredibly rude and just all around not a nice place too work

Fast pace so hours fly by. System simple enough after a few weeks using it. Keep 75% of tips you make. Main downside is discount codes due to being a long process applying them. 50% off food during shifts.

Great oportunity for people who would like to develop and have progress in their career. However, there is a lot of hustle to make sure you will receive curses you were asked for.

Dreadful place to work, paid me £1.50 less than my contract stated.
They were breaking kitchen health and safety standards, dropping food on floor placing it back plate and giving it to customer, also placing raw meats in the section for vegans and vegeterians
Pros
Absolutely nothing
Cons
Dreadful management, breaking rules of contract and terrible kitchen hygiene and food safety

I left them because of personal reasons.
But I can recomend for those people who are workoholic.

The salary is very good, but if someone is progress, then the payrise between two position is not related with the responsibilty of the higher position.

When I first started the management was great! Once the managers were swapped about was when the horror show began, one manager was so horrible to their staff, everybody left. I used to go home and cry because of the workplace bullying and was drove out of my job but the nasty comments.

Management of department I worked for have no people skills and doesn't care about their people and are just interested about their bonuses. No support, don't have a training department. Don't really know what the job I was doing involved.

Management always broke the law when it came to giving employees their breaks. The law states that you're entitled to at least 20 minutes' uninterrupted break when you work over six hours, but I can count on one hand the number of these breaks I actually received after working an average of four days a week for four months. Most of the time, if it was quiet enough, I would manage to get a 5-minute smoke break, but 15 minutes would be docked from my pay.
The bar was pretty much always understaffed, so it was extremely stressful and customers would often complain that there wasn't enough bar staff available to serve them. Usually, when there are two people working on the bar, one would serve and the other would prepare drinks for restaurant table orders. So I would end up doing the job of two or even three people, for minimum wage, as well as no break, even after 10 or so hours. There was hardly any work/life balance at all as I was called in on my days off multiple times because of understaffing. I didn't personally get any of these shifts, but some staff would have split shifts where they'd start at 6:30am and not finish for the day until 10-11:30pm or even later, then be expected to be back in at the same time again in the morning. This is breaking yet another law surrounding rest breaks as you are entitled to 11 hours' rest between shifts.

Everything that was promised in the job description was never given. No proper training, I was basically thrown straight into the job on my first day. I was expected to do a close-down by myself on my second shift after only being shown

Management are not strong and experienced enough to deal with the bullies in the workplace. Horrible place to work and a horrible environment to allow bullying to go on in the workplace.

Work was typically very busy, yet we were always able to manage as we had the skills required to stay prepared and deal with the troubles that arise. Management was always there to help and support us when needed and often stepped in to help when people may have called in sick or were late.
