Horrible work place
Vehicle Builder (Former Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire15 September 2019
Run by bullies as managers who took great pleasure in sacking people and generally making working there a miserable experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone .

Clueless team leaders and supervisors
Electrician (Former Employee) –  brush traction loughborough11 June 2019
I tried to think of something positive to say about Wabtec as a company, but couldnt.
The shop-floor lads (agency) are all spot-on, good skilled staff that help each other out.
Thats where the positivity STOPS !!!
It would seem, that if you are under qualified, incompenent, lazy and all round clueless, they make you a team leader !!! Even worse....... A Supervisor !!!
You really couldnt make up half of what goes on in the offices of Wabtec, i would say "see for your self" but im not cruel enough to recommend ANYONE works for them.
If you value your life and/or sanity........ AVOID !!!
Pros
shop-floor lads (agency)

Clueless managers

Pit of despair
Electrician (Former Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire7 January 2019
Was at Wabtec for 2 years as an electrician, would never go back. Micro managed to death, they have more team leaders and supervisors than anything else. Yet still management is terrible, can never get materials or schematics when you need them. Have 2x standing breaks and 1x 20min dinner, and to top it off they treat and speak to you like a 2nd class citizen. half the people in there have no clue how to do the job but they are mates with the managers so get promoted etc etc. If you want a place to work where u can turn up, mong it and go home then by all means apply but if your decent go elsewhere.
Pros
So bad everything else looks good

Challenging but fun
Senior Planner (Current Employee) –  Doncaster, UK4 December 2018
The day to day tasks within the planning role are varied, ranging from production planning meetings, sales meetings, generation of internal document to updating the ERP system.
The company has broadened my knowledge of rolling stock and passenger vehicle.
The management style is to let employees get on with what they were employed to do.
The works place culture is driven by safety and KPI targets.
Administration in the role can be quite demanding.
The most enjoyable part of the job are the people I work along side of.
Pros
The people
Cons
Frustrating at times

Good money but has its downfalls. The work is easy enough to get through on a daily basis. As its a busy factory that have alot of contracts coming in and out with the trains.

Not enough work to satify my needs

Easy job poor management
Fitter (Former Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire20 December 2017
Little to no room for progression. I constantly put my name forward for extra courses only to wait months o find out they no longer require the role. Managers are normally recruited externally and the good ones generally leave within a year. The job is generally very easy with little to no challenge so if you like to come to work to switch off and then go home then come and work here.
Pros
Overtime
Cons
Little to no progression

Not bad place to work. Poor management.
Cat 3 (Current Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire18 March 2017
The job isn't that bad it's just the lack of communication between departments. Not very organised and when something goes wrong management always pass the blame. Also only seem to get on if your friends or related to management.
Pros
Put hours in can get good money
Cons
Badly managed

Not a good place to work
Vehicle Builder (Current Employee) –  Doncaster, South Yorkshire4 February 2017
Eight hours and twenty minutes with only 20 min break, you're being watched when and how long you going to use toilet facilities. Less or no instructions on how to do the job that you have being given, no available materials or consumables. The most of the team leaders are useless and cannot give any guidances. The supervisors hiring friends and family and giving the overtime to them. You're not allowed to bring personal power and air tools, but company ones are like gold dust and you struggling to do the tasks given. Tools cupboard being smashed and personal tools were stolen, but the company won't do anything about it. One of the worst places that I have been working.

interesting
Production Engineer (Current Employee) –  Doncaster29 September 2016
To date the company has been frustrating to work in. Many policies, procedures that one would expect to see in an engineering environment are not in place.

The workforce are very knowledgeable experts and get little respect for that.

Development is slow and not seen as important as may be documented. Some managers have attitudes that constitutes bullying in the modern working place.

Project Manager (Current Employee) –  Doncaster25 July 2016
An energetic Engineering company that's a pressurized environment but enjoyable work ethos, all departments cooperate to deliver a quality product to budget and on time.
The hardest part of this job was keeping to then Project plan as some areas tended to get in front of other areas although the plan showed start and finish criteria
The most enjoyable party was managing the above
Pros
Work ethos
Cons
Old school work environment
