it's not what it used to be
Sales administrator (Current Employee) –  Orpington24 September 2018
I have worked there many years, and the new management are not so staff oriented. For the staff that want to work hard are over looked. The day to day running can be full on with no management support.

Woefully poor upper management structure
Parts supervisor (Former Employee) –  Ford Kings Norton23 September 2018
Total lack of appreciation towards staff. Car sales orientated, aftersales is held in very low regard.

Staff relations are a joke. Management will try and force staff into specific agreements, while own hr will disagree.

Bonus is non existent for service advisors and the majority of technicians on many sites.

If you decide to work there, take the experience and move on to a more professional group.

Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Mansfield13 August 2018
Working from 8.30am until 5pm, I was able to learn the ins and outs of all Honda personal vehicles for example the differences between a Honda Civic and a Honda Civic Type R. I learnt how to deal with difficult tasks and how to help customers with their vehicle issues. I have also previously owned a Honda Civic myself and so working within Honda, I was able to build my car up to how I wanted it.

Long hours but potential to make good money
Sales Executive (Former Employee) –  Dunfermline20 July 2018
Long hours, 1 day off a week with 1 weekend off a month. I was in a small branch that has since closed down, very quiet and I found this difficult. Days were long but if you were good you had potential to make a very good living.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Long hours & 1 day off a week

Vertu
Business manager (Former Employee) –  Grantham9 July 2018
With the best training in the industry ,Vertu and the Honda divsion especially is great place to work.

It is hard work and the days will fly by as there is always something happening.

Career progression is very good and the top performers are well rewarded.

But, with only limited time off and difficulty in booking holidays, this is something you must take into account.

So, if you love meeting people and want the best training then its a great place - but you will spend so much time at work (late nights, weekends, bank holidays etc.) this has to be taken into account.
Pros
Training, top brands.
Cons
working hours

Has its ups and downs
Marketing Administrator (Current Employee) –  Gateshead, Tyne and Wear22 June 2018
a typical day at work revolves around sitting in silence on a computer wondering if your work file will be ready to start or not. Sometimes (fairly often) your new files haven't even been uploaded for you to start on. The management is terrible, on days when they're not in, they don't take kindly to you ringing them requesting help for internal problems that you have no power over and have no idea how to solve it. The hardest part of the job is having to deal with supervisors that think they're the only thing in the world that matters.
Cons
training was terrible, hired for one job and now been through 3 different ones that with little to no training

Business & Fleet Manager (Current Employee) –  Worcestershire - Gloucestershire13 June 2018
Account management, prospecting for new incremental and conquest business. Reason for returning failed to materialise as the company did not proceed with a planned acquisition which directly affected my career path. Hardest part of the job was the inconsistencies with management and colleagues abilities and reliability. Most enjoyable was concluding the deal

Productive and fun
Driver (Former Employee) –  Trafford, Greater Manchester9 April 2018
A typical day at work would be to sort parts by invoice, load in company list order. Maintain vehical, Clean warehouse, upload details to computer. Interact with management, follow instruction. Work place culture was one of hard work mixed with fun work place banter. Hardest part was if computer/Internet crashed. Most enjoyable part was the interaction with all of the 300 customers l delivered too. Although I have over 40 years of different employment experiences to offer, l enjoyed the opportunity to learn a new skill of computer operation.
Pros
Non routine
Cons
Ice and snow weather

Business Manager (Current Employee) –  Macklin Motors Edinburgh West3 March 2018
A good company, great investor in people, ruthless at times.
The motor trade is cut throat and requires long unsociable hours.
Training is industry leading, lots of support and good people all around.

Could be better
Sales Executive (Current Employee) –  Gloucester16 February 2018
Have worked for Vertu for a number of years now and the daily workload has increased however so has the stress levels but sadly the salary is shrinking.
Vertu has big ambitions but sadly does not have the infrastructure to fulfill these currently.
Staff are constantly micromanaged and too many people get paid to do a sub standard job in my opinion making everything harder work than it should be.
Pros
Very unlikely to lose your position
Cons
Have to tolerate too many inconsistencies

Valet bay manager (Former Employee) –  Derby, Derbyshire13 February 2018
A typical day would consist of the cleaning of up to 30 cars per day. Each vehicle would be given the same level of detailing as the last one regardless of its condition. The team would pull together during the busy periods and share the work out during the quieter months.
Pros
Chemicals and PPE were free
Cons
Sometimes hard to earn good money
