No... hours are set unless they are short staffed, then you may be asked (forced) to work overtime but not get properly paid for it... or you might be one of the unlucky ones who get a letter saying they actually owe the uni wages back! Crazy finance officers !!

Answered

Publish plenty of papers, prepare lectures, presentation skills. Dress smartly for interviews, be prepared for them to talk a whole day, with a panel interview, sample lecture, research review.....

Jobs are advertised on the University's website, via Indeed and also Unitemps. There is an online application process. Successful applicants are contacted, non-successful applicants are not. There is a single interview process for positions level 1 - 3. Sometimes a second process for levels 4 - 7. The selection/interview will comprise a written test relevant to the position, and an interview with a panel of up to 3 people. Questions are competency based and applicants are advised to refresh themselves of the competencies involved.
