a pleasure to get out of bed in morning to go to work, how many people can say that?
kennel manager/dog handler (Former Employee) – edinburgh – 4 November 2012
There was never a typical day at work, being a member of a dog section with the MoD Police and Guarding Agency (MDPGA) brought many challanges. Being in charge of the section with 10 officers and 6 dogs under my control brought many challanges, being a manager/boss taught me that what i say when i say it is not the way to do things. Instead it taught me to listen, give constructive critisism, work as a team, respect others views and opinions, treat everyone equally with respect and dignity and to always strive for a win, win outcome when things dont go to plan. The hardest part of my job was dealing with management whom i had the upmost respect for until i had to explain to them there was more to working and handling a dog than they thought, their thoughts being, they're hairy, have teeth and bite, there were no really hard parts ot the job, i was paid to deal with difficult situations as were the officers in my charge, from drunk soldiers and intruders to difficult members of the public it was all in a days work for a professionally trained, experienced MDPGA handler. The most enjoyable part of the job i done were the people i worked with directly, every one of them i would have trusted with my life.
