Carer (Former Employee) – London, ENG – 12 January 2014
Live in care work is a good experience but not one I would return to if I was to return to the UK. A typical day would differs with every placement and the different requirements of each client. Usually bathing the client and dressing them, preparing all meals, light leaning of the house. Attending to the animals if the client owned any, entertaining guests. One of my client's was unable to use her legs so we would have to hoist her in to the wheelchair, change her pad and clean her up when necessary, at times she needed feeding as well. The management and agency I went through to get the job were very helpful and all lovely ladies. When on two carer jobs all the other workers that I encountered where hard workers and made the work place enjoyable. The most enjoyable part of the job was when I was able to spend quality time with my patients and get to know them a bit better.
