I have worked at toolstation for a while now..the management has improved over the last year a fair company that lets you get in with your work ..fast pace work but not pressurised by anyone..decent workforce who are mainly European poles and Lithuanians and a few English nice to work with . Pay is basic and no overtime

Don't ever apply for here
At first, the job was great, my colleagues were amazing, the job itself was fun and I enjoyed my time there. Then I moved stores for convenience and ever since then its been awful.

Manager doesn't care about her staff - to the point she's yelled at me where I've been pushed to tears multiple times. Also being stripped of basic human rights in regard to not being able to speak to or even look at a colleague as we have a good work relationship.

Upper management is terrible, we're just minions working to make them money, we're not human to them at all. They say they care about mental health and such but they don't. I've had to miss multiple appointments with my MH team due to not being able to change shifts or get the days off I need

The whole company is terrible in regards to management and how they treat their employees.

If I were you, I'd look for a job elsewhere

really bad place
they only care about money and profit, Staff not valued.
managers are absolute power hungry.

Bank holidays are paid at a standard rate £8.31 p/h.

bad working conditions. Freezing in the winter and sickly hot in the summer.

Staff morale is so low but that’s due to management not just the company.

Sales Assistant
A truly awful place to work. Bank holidays are paid at a standard rate £8.31 p/h. Shifts changed frequently without you being asked or informed about. Everybody is in charge. So when you are training you will be told different ways to carry out the job, only for it to be wrong with someone. Avoid the place unless you are desperate for work.

Miserable people and poor time keeping
This has to be the worst company overall in terms with people talking behind other employees back and wanting to bully you into something extreme like going too far into knowing your personal and family's life history. I am glad I'm not working at toolstation anymore becouse people only care about themselves and not others when it comes to making mistakes. The downside is that it's so awfully arranged you can't move past anything without getting a slight cut or scratch from sharp corners of boxes and leaving packing knives with The blade exposed around the place.

Working at Toolstation.
I have been with Toolstation for nearly 4 months now. I enjoy working there :) :) There is room for progression within the company :) :) It can be very busy or very quiet at times. Every day is unpredictable, which is good for me :) :)

fun, faced paced
fast paced, and changing all the time. No two days are the same as a manager you can do all aspects of the job from serving customers to decanting delivery.

Love it love the job love the people definitely work here!
I love this job...staff are basically family, manager is BRILLIANT good location good customers I'm happy here RM is a good one DD is good also can't go wrong with this job....so what if it's longer hours more £££££😁There's also opportunities for development with the company, bonuses, discounts in some decent shops.Toolstation look after their employees by putting multiple reporting systems in place to resolve issues staff have in store in regards to health and safety. It's a good job.

Just want the money. Staff not valued
This company has been expert in being understaffed and expecting the current staff to work weeks and weeks without a day off to cover the sheer incompetence of the HR. Moving up to management means absolutely nothing as you are given 0 authority when it comes to decision making. An insulting pay rise of 30p from a keyholder to supervisor which isn’t justified with the amount of extra work and constant belittling received from higher management, managers ignore problems with staff staff can’t be ill but management can. Constant belittling from Regional manager who just hang about. If you value your family life and personal time don’t work for this company

Unfair treatment
I was bullied by a new rm, reported it in July, I had a breakdown, the company, started investigating in december, I felt forced to leave, not allowed to know outcome of complaint.i lost a fortune in salary, if it was not for the appallingtreatment at the hands of my rm, I would never have been off.

Toxic
I was here for 4 months. The place is toxic, stressful and unbalanced. There were certainly managers favourites at the branch I was at and special favours were given to those people (extra breaks, longer lunch hours, better hours). One manager even started dating a new employee. Toostation expected its employees to come in 15 minutes before it opened and stay 15 after it closed its doors to the public, however, employees were not paid for for that time, even though they were working (opening or closing)
