Only been working there for a year. Having started with the company around fall/Christmas time, it started off very busy, which I was used to and loved. Always extra hours if you wanted them, and always something to do during the day. Christmas sales keep you on your feet and the days go quick. This particular store was not sited in a busy shopping town, so the rest of the year the shop is dead. Working 9-5pm can be extremely boring and slow, and you only get your contracted hours weekly. With the high end brand, comes nice customers, (possibly depending on the area), but our ideal target customers are mid-age to older people...occasionally you will have to deal with younger kids popping in the store for a sniff, as expected in any store with samples available. The job consists of opening the store and handling the tills upon opening. A quick inventory check and seeing if any items can be filled from the stock room or tidied/dusted. Greeting customers upon their entry to the store, asking if they need any help or advice. Checking and handling deliveries, bigger deliveries depending on the size of the store and time of year, i.e Mother's Day, Halloween etc. Serving customers at the till, we offered a free cellophane wrap with a bow - so if customers asked we would need to be quick and efficient in gift wrapping. And finally end of day facing up and closing the tills with banking and closing the shop. It's an easy job, but for me it's too easy - and too quiet for the other 11 months after December. This is totally dependant on the location of the store. I know - more...
