Working as a live in carer during COVID-19

Now more than ever it makes such a difference to older people and those with life limiting conditions to be able to stay in their own homes with one-to-one support.

As a Professional live-in carer with The Good Care Group you will only work in one household. Looking after one client or at times a couple.  All of our carers are, in effect, isolating themselves with their clients for the duration of their rotas, thereby minimising their exposure to COVID-19.  The safety of all our team and our clients are always our number one priority.  We wanted to share a message with you from our Chief Executive Dominique Kent who explains more about working as a live in Carer during COVID-19.  Watch her message in our video below.

Our Head of Quality Assurance, Emma Sadler, outlines how it's possible to continue achieving great health and wellbeing outcomes for clients in spite of COVID19. The article in Care Talk (link below) shows how we are using technology to keep people safe and connected.

Thinking of becoming a live in carer?

As a professional live-in carer, you will provide care and companionship at a time when a person needs it most, in the comfort of their home. Working in a live-in care team of two, your priority will be to provide support and assistance as agreed in a personalised care plan, helping the person to live a full life, as independently as possible.

If you already have professional experience in a care home, hospital or home care environment, great! If you lack professional experience, but have cared for a family member or loved one, you should still apply but may find that suitable roles are limited.

Carers join us from a variety of backgrounds to work in placements across the UK. We regularly recruit from overseas – often from Spain, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Slovakia, Lithuania, Hungary and France – but you must be able to prove you are eligible to work in this country.

What is live-in care?

Our vision is to be the leading provider of the highest quality care in the home. To enable older people to enjoy staying safely and happily in their own homes and own community for as long as possible, whilst enhancing their well-being and lifestyle.

Our carers are the reason we are able to deliver the very highest standards; standards that are revitalising the industry, professionalising care and making a real difference to our clients’ lives. All of our dedicated team are selected because of their alignment to our company values. As well as their care skills and experience, our selection process allows us to get to know you well and understand how best to support you so that you have a rewarding career with us.

Why The Good Care Group?

If you want a career in care, where you can make a real difference, there's nowhere better!

Our people are the reason we are rated so highly across the UK for our levels of care, commitment and safety. Our support is the reason so many of them have stayed and made a difference to the clients they look after and the career they have always wanted.

If you have experience of providing personal care, either in a professional capacity or from recent experience of providing personal care to a loved one or a friend, we'd love to hear from you.

There’s nowhere better because:

- We offer a variety of live-in care roles in England and Scotland to suit your level of experience and lifestyle

- 5 days’ intensive training before your first placement

- 24/7/365 support from our central team

- A dedicated care manager who knows you and your client

- UK travel expenses covered whilst in placement

- We pay according to skills and experience, not based on the client you work with.

We asked Melanie, our Recruiter in Spain, why she likes working with us. Melanie joined The Good Care Group as a Live-in Carer, then progressed to a Rapid Responder and eventually started working with our Recruitment team in Spain last year.

Training at The Good Care Group

There’s nowhere better to train for the future. Our induction is market leading and confidence boosting. Whether you want to grow your skills as a professional live-in carer, gain expertise in complex needs or go on to become a care manager, we’ll help you achieve your goals.

If your application is successful, you’ll attend a five-day live-in care induction programme. You’ll learn live-in care skills, innovative techniques and the knowledge to help our clients continue to live well at home.

We invest in, and encourage, every employee to continually develop their skills and experience, providing a range of opportunities for professional enhancement. Additional training, ongoing supervision, coaching and mentoring are available to all our live-in carers.

Jackie is a Trainer from our team in Spain and explains more about our carer induction training in this short video.
