Fun, interesting, stressfull
General Assistant- Team Leader- Trainee manager. (Former Employee) – Leyland – 3 April 2018
Depending on which type of Tesco you work at will give you a different experience. Obviously the more amount of customers the store gets the busier you shall be. That being said the busy times can also be the fun times as it helps you all pull together to work as a team. There are many different job roles all with ups and downs. I found the ups were working with friends as Tesco employs a lot of students as well as middle aged people, so the age gap is minor and you find yourself relation to everyone by relation to somebody close to that age group. Management was vast. So to talk about management in general would be wrong as there were so many different types of management styles/personalities that it wouldn't be fair to label one as all. Once you got to know them all they were all pretty nice yet retail stress can cause some tempers at times. Tesco is a great place to learn all types of communication skills, business skills when filling out receipts, money skills when working checkouts, numeracy skills when working on the shop floor in general and housekeeping when just wanting to keep the place tidy.
Friendly environment, can be busy, can be quiet, hour for dinner and two 15 minute breaks, work with a lot of diverse people, staff parties.
Can be stressful, can be busy, size of store depends of workload.
