Customer Assistant (Current Employee) – Bedford – 20 March 2018
It can be extremely fun and successful if all the support and requirments are met per each store. The pay and benefits of Tesco are extremely good and competitive for the singular roles that each person has.
Customer Assistant (Former Employee) – Bournemouth – 12 March 2018
Working with fun colleagues is always good to have a laugh at work, having great managers as well makes a lot of difference, managers that talk to you about your life,o how it is going how does it go, you if need something else.
This was my first real job so I wasn't too sure what to expect however it became apparent that my management (Within the non-food department) was extremely chaotic. Often the managers were clueless in directing me and the other team members which ultimately resulted in miscommunication between both parties.
One manager was insanely abusive and not be reluctant to get into his team members' faces in order to shout and lecture them about the most miniscule things, whether they were mistakes or just something he felt angsty about.
Overall, this was not the worse job and I enjoyed my time here.
Cusotmer Assistant (Former Employee) – High wycombe – 11 March 2018
Overall Tesco was an alright organisation to work for a typical day would include restocking the shelves and helping customers with their problems with a break in netwwen hours. I learned to improve my time keeping. the management wasn't spectacular they did threaten us with letting us go on mutliple occasions and wasn't exactly polite when talking to us. The hardest part of the job for me was dealing with managers who was sometimes on your back. the job itslef however is relatively easy.
Checkouts Assistant (Current Employee) – Mansfield – 10 March 2018
I am currently a university student and had this job as a Christmas temporary worker. I got kept on after Christmas and February and now work part time and nearly worked for 2 years. It has helped me with paying off my student fees but also gained a lot of experience with working with different customers.
Great work ethic and great colleagues to work with, all like family.
Shift Leader (Current Employee) – Sussex – 8 March 2018
Tesco would be a great place to work if they employed decent staff who are there to work, and not glued to their mobile phones, constantly off sick or standing around chatting to one another. As a Team Leader we are often worked understaffed, and expected to do so much. Management is poor, and nothing is ever resolved. I'm like a pressure cooker waiting to burst, I don't know why I am still working there, never known a company like it!!
Don't expect to have a break, even a toilet break is impossible with the CA's double belling you constantly, don't expect to have weekends off, as you Will work every weekend, expect to work 6 days a week, due to covering sickness/ lack of staff.
Having to start work at 05:30am after working a Late the day before (finishing at 11pm) seriously zaps the life out of you, I have no home /work life balance, I never see my family due to the hours worked.
Going to jump off this sinking ship and hopefully find a job elsewhere where I'm appreciated and rewarded for my hard work
A moderately satisfying job, very simple and does require strong customer service skills as you are on your own all day interacting with customers. Good room for progression if you do seek a management role. Do dislike the unsociable hours, the job requires you to do at least 2 evenings and one weekend, I do at 12.15 - 22.15 shift every Saturday. It has negatively impacted my social life as my only days off are midweek.
Modest job, good responsibility
unsociable hours, lowest take home pay of the main retailers.
Work Experience Placement (Former Employee) – Colchester, Essex – 8 March 2018
I would get to Tesco for 9 and do a full days work until I left at 5. Because I was on work experience I moved around all of the areas; this included sandwich counters and clothes areas as well as the general shop floor. My main responsibility was to make sure that the shop looked presentable at all times and to be polite to customers.
