Good for foreigners coming to Uk without experience or basics of language. Good pay but no career growth for males. A lot of benefits like tesco card, discounts and higher payrate at weekend, bank holidays and overtimes.

Standardized breaks. I got more breaks at Tesco that any other jobs meaning I wasn't overworked.
Very good job security. Plesent work culture. You quickly find colleagues that you get on with.
Good overtime. You can always ask other department managers for overtime.

Warehouse Team Member (Former Employee) –  Purfleet13 October 2018
Physically demanding work with a lot of stress and managers are constantly on your case with regards to performance even though if you ask anybody their targets are made for robots or superman as no average human can hit 100%.
Pros
Good canteen food, subsidised as well
Cons
Hard work, long-term health issues, pay good but not good enough

Poor Company - Dont look after their staff
Store Manager (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London8 October 2018
Tescos has gone down hill so much. They are cutting back so much on everything. You are expected to stay on regularly and never get to take the time back. They have cut all bonus's, and the payrise's are nothing short of embarrassing.
Pensions have been cut. The opportunity to progress has been cut with the structure changes they have done. It no longer means they are aligned correctly. Do not work for them unless you have to.

Pay

Customer Assistant/Team Leader (Former Employee) –  Mansfield6 October 2018
joined Tesco whilst still at school and was with them for 6 years numerous jobs ending with being Team Leader for a small express store. Honestly not a bad employer good pay for whatever job you do more than the average wage. However progressing onto management is not for everyone if i didn't do it myself i would still be there. it is tough and it shows how tough you are and if you don't make it then it can be a bad time for you
Pros
good opportunities to progress
Cons
can be long hours if management

Sales Assistant (Former Employee) –  Boston, Lincolnshire5 October 2018
Good place to work. Good money. I guess it really depends how you are going to like it there by having a decent management team. Otherwise can be really unbearable to work.
I was lucky with my management and reasonably enjoyed working there.

Not the same company
Beauty Manager (Current Employee) –  West Bromwich, West Midlands4 October 2018
Having been at Tesco for 14 years, being a manager for 6 of them, I have seen many changes happen within the company. The main focus of the company is the customers, by doing so the company has forgotten about the little people that work for them. Mainly the management team, being a team manager you have a big workload, and not much support given.
The pay and benefits however are not to be looked down at, this is probably the main reason as to why so many people stay for so long at this company. It isn't a bad job, I just wish the company would protect the colleagues rather than always looking after the customers needs.
Cons
long hours, work life balance can be hard

Customer Services Manager (Former Employee) –  Cardiff3 October 2018
Fun place to work with great people shame about the management. Poor pay and benefits compared to similar roles in other companies.
Progression is more of who you know and get along with more than having the actual skills required for the role.
