Typical dead end job - extremely poor management
Sales Assistant (Dotcom) (Former Employee) – Brislington – 15 March 2018
I worked on dotcom - the job was pretty much what you would expect it to be. The pay is barely above minimum wage but it is okay considering the job is relatively easy. I actually didn't mind the hours (6am to midday) as you get the rest of the day to yourself. However, that is only if the managers don't try and bully you into staying later because they haven't bothered hiring enough staff to cover the number of orders (which happened most days).
The worst part, by far, were the managers. They are always up your behind about your pick rate, even if it is out of your control yet no recognition for a job well done. Even worse than that there was clear favoritism going on throughout the whole store, especially saw it in my department. If you were a favorite (or friends/family with a manager) you could get away with anything (chatting, lack of uniform, being late etc) but the rest of us would be penalized for the same thing. I definitely felt I was treated unfairly, I had injuries that were made so so much worse due to the job and they refused to give me light duties even with a doctors note, even though they gave that luxury to loads of other people. I ended up suffering from anxiety and then quitting. This was a couple of years ago now but unless the managers have changed then nothing else will have.
