About Teepee Day Nursery

The Owners - David and Emma

I’m Emma Tennant, and I set up Teepee Day Nursery, Bracknell in 2003. At the time, I wanted to go back to my job at Johnson & Johnson, but couldn’t find a good enough nursery locally. My husband David and I bought the nursery when Phoebe was 18 months and I was pregnant with Ben. Both children went through Teepee before moving on to school. I have always had a passion for providing the very best care for babies and children. Before having children, I trained as a nurse and a midwife. More recently, I completed a postgraduate diploma in Early Years and a Master’s in Education at Reading University. David brings his health & safety expertise to the nursery. He’s a Health & Safety consultant, and has worked on major infrastructure projects such as Hinkley Point nuclear power station and HS2. His current project is the restoration of the Houses of Parliament. Busy as he is, we make the most of his corporate expertise on policies, procedures, audit, and current thinking on H&S matters.

Loving Care

At Teepee Day Nursery Bracknell, we take the utmost care of your children. The children are looked after in small groups. We have a stable, caring, hand-picked team, and we never use agency staff – not ever. And we have a dedicated admin team, which frees up our manager and our practitioners to be with the children. These are some of our values: Feeling safe, feeling heard: When children feel safe, cared for, nurtured and loved, they thrive. Always learning: We encourage the children to learn and grow by providing their first formal education. Being healthy & well: We make sure the children are healthy by providing nutritious food, a clean and tidy setting, and lots of opportunity to run around.

Competitive Pay

At Teepee Day Nursery, we make it our business to know what’s going on and we pride ourselves in keeping our finger on the pulse. We regularly compare rates locally and nationally to make sure that we offer really competitive rates of pay. Our team all work flexible hours to suit their own work/life balance. You can choose to work: * full time * part time * condensed hours, working full time over four days for instance * the earlier shift or the later shift. We try to keep overtime to a minimum but when it is required, we always pay you for it or give you the time off in lieu. And we only ask you to carry out the role that you are actually employed for. So, unlike other nursery providers, we won’t ever ask you to do the evening cleaning.

Because we are doing the most important job in the world – caring for and nurturing the next generation – we invest heavily in our team. We offer many benefits, including: Competitive pay Financial bonuses & pension Generous holidays Attention to wellbeing Excellent working environment A host of other advantages

Training and Development

Ofsted described us as having an ‘excellent staff training programme’. We’re not surprised, because we provide this from day one. We have a thorough mentoring and induction programme which lasts the whole six months of your probation. We pay for everything to get you started: the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, safeguarding training, paediatric first aid and Level 2 Food Hygiene and much more. Once you’re fully inducted, we offer fantastic training opportunities – we have everyone from apprentice Level 2s to an MA, and everything in between.
