Nice place to work, young and fun collegues to work with. Always focused on customer service and first good impression, fast service and good deals.
I learned all the food related policies and standards, set rotas and doing stock takes.

I gained experience in managing a team with over 20 people with a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

Subway gave me the skills that I have learned over 4 years to become a great store manager, the most enjoyable part of the job is the people you work with, its like a family

I worked for two different subway franchises and they were both as bad as each other, they underpay, overwork and belittle you whenever they can.

Subway company as a whole just ignores all situations, if you take anything to HR they never get back to you, I had to take a franchisee to court to get my wages and subway didn't care.

Poor quality food (I'll tell you ALOT of subways don't care about quality, it's just about how much money they make.)

They don't care about you as a person, just treat you like a mule and a tool.

Awful company.

It was difficult to run a such a small busy store open 24/7 but not impossible. Building a new trained team was the key for success. Apparently now it has a much better ownership than before.

Subway was a great platform for opportunities I have had. Staff were fantastic and all worked as a team. Staff benefits and rewards every month.

Developed many of my strongest skills.

Extremely busy, and fast paced environment. Always a job to do, upper management are oblivious to the actual work involved and no thanks for additional hours worked unpaid.
Higher management mentality is awful towards the minimum wage employees. Stores are all short staffed, and expected to keep to high standards regardless.

Summary says it all, I enjoyed the role but found some of the expectations unrealistic, excellent progression opportunities and the roles does help you gain experience in many different areas

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here,

I was moved from starting to supervisor to manager,

when I was promoted to store manager, the area manager was looking to leave and the operation within our area was crumbling, we had no control over rotas which caused issues for members of staff who could not work certain days, resulting in store managers working 60+ hour weeks,

At that time there was no job work/life balance,

I learned how to manage a store and staff, train and coach and learnt many team based skills along the way,

the area manager there when I was a manager was a great guy, but due to his leaving and a new one unable to pick up where he left off, I ended up parting ways with the company, due to no life balance which put me off working there,

the workplace was good, i enjoyed prepping food and serving customers, although mundane it got me through the days,.

hardest part of the job was the opening or closing and having deliveries whilst on your own, made life very difficult.
Cons
60+ hours per week.

Because it’s a franchised business, no two companies are same. Every store has different standards and training given is poor. Pay is lower than other competing fast food chains.
Pros
Flexible hours and direct customer contact
Cons
Poor pay, poor training, poor management

I’ve managed a store for some years and it’s just disappointing- area managers cutting hours in busy times, the difference in pay between assistant manager and sandwich artist is about 20 p, left alone with great amount of deliveries and expected to give great customer service at the same time. Most of the store opened late with no security especially in the week days. Being pushed to ask customers extra questions over and over again even though you realise it’s annoying for them.
At the end I was not even paid for half month of eork and they have the contracts made somehow that are covered by law. STAY AWAY
Pros
Chose your working hours when managing
Cons
everything else

It's a very fast pace invironment. There are a lot of things to be done, with a great team could be a brilliant work. Wage isn't so great as we get paid every month and on minimum.
Pros
Free lunches
Cons
Fast pace

Can be good option if you work as a flexible team member and a student but it is not a career. Hours can be long and it gives you just minimum national wage.
Pros
Free lunch
Cons
long hours
