Awful company avoid like the plague
Annonymous (Former Employee) –  Reading, Berkshire22 May 2018
Worked at stonewater on a contract. Very click like atmosphere. If you are not liked you will certainly be made to feel this way. Staff are all out for themselves and reminds me of being back in school. No real sense of direction and do not care for there tenants.

Terrible Company - Business First staff welfare last
Retirement (Former Employee) –  Dorset12 May 2018
This company doesn’t give a dam about their staff or tenants. They’re purely driven by making money. No longer a social landlord only a business one. The management are a complete waste of space. They are not experienced enough. You get no support from management at all. They take forever to reply to emails and your forever chasing them for answers to your work. There is hardly ever any 1-2-1 support despite the claims this is regular. Higher management don’t support middle management either so it all carries on down the chain. Residents never have meetings anymore they’re just told what is going to happen. You’re even expected to travel over your work hours without being able to claim it back. This includes attending three to four annual corporate events outside the area each year. They last all day and go well beyond your daily hours but they don’t allow you any time back. So you may take on a 30 hr a week contract but end up working and traveling more hours for free. Not a good situation when you have family commitments. A one sided company, that expects you to give to them constantly but the give in their side is seriously lacking. You’re paid part time hours but work full time hours when it suits them. The bonus is that the direct team members are great, really supportive and they will keep you laughing through it.
Pros
Great teamwork
Cons
Expecting too much from employees

Hiring temporary staff
Customer Service (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London20 March 2018
Sw is getting rid of old staff to say so called redundancis. Hiring new temporary staff and then changing their JD to suit. So much of good employer don't give damm about people's livelihood. Managers are fooling higher up Directors to get what they want. I have seen temporary staff been abused shouted at by spineless managers. Sad place to be. You can only survive if you can shine your Managers bottom sadly.
Pros
General atmosphere is good friendly staff.
Cons
No training for job. Put up with worthless manager

terrible team managers
N/A (Current Employee) –  Bristol, Bristol29 August 2017
team managers for the contact centre in Bristol are under trained. contact centre staff are lovely but are not lead properly by the management.
The Contact centre has gone down hill because of this. They also make staff fell rejected and separate from the overall team if they "don't like them". this then leads to people feeling rejected by the "click" they have.
Pros
company is fantastic to work for
Cons
call centre team managers in Bristol are shockingly bad

Income Officer (Former Employee) –  Leamington Spa, Warwickshire19 January 2017
Stonewater came into being after a merger of 2 Housing Associations, and represented a cultural shift away from a social landlord to a business landlord.

Review of tenant rent accounts.
Arrears enforcement as required.
Representation at court.
Sign posting.
Home visits,
tenancy support.

For the past two years, whislt part of a region, I have managed my own time and work load and worked from an office where the other members of staff worked in other areas of the business. My other team members and line Manager worked from Dudley and Leominster.

The hardest part of the job came from cuts and changes to Welfare benefits systerm which have caused considerable hardship to particularly vulnerable tenants.

The most enjoyable part would be enabling tenants to sustain a succesful tenancy.
Pros
Flexi system and large holiday allowance.
Cons
Not flexible in terms of part time hours

weak management, structure based on if your face fits or not
asset management division (Former Employee) –  South4 August 2016
A result of a merger between 2 organisations, Stonewater is well meaning but is managed by a load of self serving/ self interest first senior managers and executives. The management here like to give the message out that they are always listening and thinking how actions impact residents and staff, but as soon as someone questions them or their actions they become vindictive and spiteful. The asset management department across both organisations has been ripped apart, with a large number of staff leaving because of the senior managers who seem to make it up as they go - never able to stick to a decision. Senior managers seem to be playing their own game of empire building. A shame really, both organisations had good strong people with tons of experience and common sense. These people had years of service but Stonewater management seem happy for them to leave and the organisation to focus on short termism with new employees. The people who left did so with pay outs as well, which speaks volumes about the management style and culture currently.
Pros
staff under the senior management level are friendly and hardworking

weak management, afraid of others views

My role within Stonewater involves helping to manage the divisional office whilst providing administrative support to the Executive Directors.
Divisional Co-ordinator (Former Employee) –  Milton Keynes20 May 2016
My work within Stonewater is very varied, ranging from providing an office management function for a divisional office employing in excess of 55 employees, to providing key administrative support at Executive Director and Committee meetings throughout the country.

During my time with the company I have learned how to respond to internal personnel and external customers at all levels in different situations. I have gained confidence to now be one of the main points of contact for staff when they seek guidance on a variety of issues relating to the management of the office.

My shorthand skills of 220 words per minute, and advanced word processing skills are regularly used at high level internal meetings within Stonewater.
Pros
Final Salary Pension Scheme. Health Care Scheme. Flexi-time

Dysfunctional
Corporate & HR (Former Employee) –  South4 October 2015
Dysfunctional management, cannot decide whether due to incompetence or simply ignorance but it is chaotic and unprepared, whilst noone seems to take responisbilty for the mistakes. No opportunities for development or career progression due to the gaps in the structure or favouritism. That does not mean this cannot change in the future, but at the moment it is not the nicest place to work for.
Pros

blame culture, lack of communication, lack of clarity

Retirement Living Manager (Current Employee) –  South West14 August 2015
A typical day would be working from home, clearing emails and tasks, telephoning my team of staff to make sure all is well and to assist in dealing with any problems that arise. I will authorise service charge reviews and deal with any complaints from residents.
I will also visits schemes and hold resident meetings and team meetings with staff. I will also hold 121's with staff.

My job is a learning curve everyday, every day is different and full of variety.
Pros
Company car, pension, holiday
Cons
Long hours, large patches, lack of commincation between departments
