Building Maintenance Engineer (Former Employee) –  Stevenage26 July 2019
Dreadful place to work, get put down for working hard, the lack of a permanent management structure is a joke.

It’s a shame because Stevenage was such a lovely town but it’s infested with scumbag benefit scrounging low lives, every day someone gets the door kicked down by the police.
Pros
Half hour Early finish Friday
Cons
Horrible town, horrible peop

Temp Customer Service
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) –  Stevenage, Hertfordshire15 February 2019
This was a 3 month temp job, which turned into slightly extended. A typical day would be answering inbound calls from members of the public dealing with any enquiry they had. The team were lovely and was a pleasant workplace. The hardest part of the job was dealing with difficult customers but helping them in the best possible way was always achieved.

Support Worker (Former Employee) –  Head Office27 January 2019
Very pressurised due to funding cuts and not enough people to do the jobs so you end up doing 3 jobs in 1. Employees have often been there for years and don't like it if you come in and are good at what you do. If you show potential you can get noticed but expect to face bullying from your colleagues and lower management. Make a formal complaint and no one follows it up.
Pros
Nice restaurant, always some event going on.
Cons
Bullying, politics, terrible lower management

Carpenter/building maintenance (Former Employee) –  Stevenage, Hertfordshire21 September 2018
This place is soul destroying, If you want to work in a company where the management want to constantly discipline an employee for absolutely anything then this place is for you, no permanent management structure, double standards, staff bias, targeted bullying and on and on, good pension though
Pros
Good pension and local working
Cons
Everything

Productive & excellent cpd
Playworker (Former Employee) –  Stevenage, Hertfordshire13 April 2017
Amazing council to be apart of. All members of staff are highly encouraging and supportive of individuals. Helping them excel and achieve in anyway they can. The play worker role is a different angle of behavioural management and how you can adapt yourself to benefit the child, issue and task at hand. Wether that be transferred into education requirement or personal life.

Great Work Life Balance
Tenancy Advisor (Current Employee) –  Stevenage, Hertfordshire11 March 2017
I started as a temp and applied for permenant. Their work life balance is excellent and so is their flex time. I currently work 3 days a week which suits me down to the ground.

Not a Great employer
Housing Officer (Former Employee) –  Stevenage Borough Council2 March 2017
Base line staff here are friendly and helpful and thats about the only thing that gets you through. Management are genreally awful. They are opinionated and unapprochable and only want it their way. Staff are not listened too and end up frustrated and over worked, hence the high turn over of staff.
The ability to do the job properly is taken away from you to hit targets and tick boxes, this is not giving the best to the role or company.
Its ok for a stop gap but generally you will be over worked and underpaid, which wouldnt be so bad if you felt valued as an employee, which genreally you dont. Sad as a lot of the staff are lovely.
CEO is great, hope he will make changes needed.
Pros
Flexi time
Cons
Long hours, over worked, under valued

Busy, friendly workplace
Technical Support Officer (Former Employee) –  Stevenage14 October 2016
A typical day dealing with tenants, contractors, utility companies and work colleagues. I learned telephone skills and how to deal with difficult telephones conversations. Dealing with day to day admin within the office. Using the in- house data base for customer information. Processing orders and closing invoices. Liaising with work colleagues/management on a daily basis.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with difficult tenants, however this was never an issue in getting a satisfactory solution for both the tenant and the council.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with a friendly team of people and being busy.
Pros
Flexi time
Cons
none

Worst local authority, to work for and reputation wise
Office Administrator (Former Employee) –  Stevenage21 September 2016
Massively undervalue staff, keep angency workers on for years getting bent over in taxes and national insurance without any contract/full time employment. Terrible local reputation, terrible attitude towards work, don't want to pay to do a job properly so do it the Cheapest way possible which includes sub contracting work out to companies that don't do a good job and then has to be refixed anyway. If you want a job and workplace that doesn't make you want to gouge out your eyes then look elsewhere
Pros
Company vehicle
Cons
Paycuts, hours cuts, no payrise, extremely negative environment, not good for your health

PLAYWORKER (Current Employee) –  Stevenage6 May 2016
A great place to work, friendly and helpful with assisting their staff progress via training etc.
Great rates of pay, co- workers are all friendly and supportive in the workplace.
Management are very understanding of each individuals personal circumstances and offer flexible working patterns.
Have gained a better understanding of the role and learnt many new skills throughout my 4 years so far.
Most enjoyable part of the role is seeing the positive impact the staff have on those attending the setting.

Great place to work
Office Manager (Current Employee) –  Stevenage12 August 2014
I have learnt a lot at Stevenage Homes and Stevenage Borough Council. I have worked within a few different teams and have been set tasks in different areas to help service levels up to high standard.

There is a good work/life balance with flexi time and everyone is pretty friendly.

safe and secure for tenants to live
Supported Housing Officer (Former Employee) –  Stevenage, ENG3 January 2014
Check the wellbeing of tenants visiting those most vulnerable.
Learn the personalities of others and recognise their needs.
Report any concerns to management and work as a team.
Assist and supervise co workers.
Hardest part of the job is referring tenants for residential care when they cannot manage for themselves, especially when they have been so happy within the sheltered scheme.
Most enjoyable is knowing you are running a happy and content place to live.
Pros
flexi working, car allowance, good work force
Cons
Constant changing of policies and procedures

OK but some issues
Bin recyclers/litter picker (Former Employee) –  stevenage14 May 2013
Some days where ok but annoyed where the full time employees were moaning at when they did not expect to finish at an early time on a regular basis.
It kept me busy time when quick.
