Poor Staff Management
Police staff (Former Employee) –  HQ27 January 2020
Loyal, hardworking employees with long service counts for very little with abhorrent, cunning and obnoxious managers and supervision. If you shut up and put up, it's an easier ride, don't ever have an opinion, supressed silence is the way forward.

High Pressure, Poor Management
Response Officer (Former Employee) –  Staffordshire20 January 2020
Pressure in this workplace has grown dramatically since the cuts imposed by the Government. The decreased workforce coupled with poor management who try to run this SERVICE as a business has lead to extremely low morale. Immediate management is often very supportive but the further supervisors go up the ladder, the more they forget what policing ACTUALLY involves to give the best service to the public. It is a real shame as it is going down the pan.

Don't
Office Assistant (Current Employee) –  HQ27 December 2019
Don't ever go for a job there. It's insidious. Management is dreadful and it's only if your face fits do you get on. I've asked to go on a course five times and it's just shelved. Just don't!!!

Platitudes
Detective Constable / Police Constable (Current Employee) –  Staffordshire7 November 2019
Hollow platitudes that are regurgitated regularly by senior officers that have only their own careers at the forefront of their minds. Wouldn't trust those in charge. Disgraceful. Regularly cancelled rest days and holidays

Retiring at the rank of Sergeant (Former Employee) –  South Staffordshire30 August 2018
The Police service is not just a job it becomes a way of life. From the time of joining you live under the disciplinary code which impacts on your private life. Your standards have to be high in every thing you do as you are very accountable to the general public. The police environment gives you a strong sense of belonging and a shift becomes an extended family. There is no such thing as a normal day as you can be rolling around the floor with a violent offender at 10am and giving a crime prevention speech at a local school at 1pm. The down side are that you see the worst of people in terrible situations, and attempt to help.
When an investigation leads to a prosecution or the recovery of peoples property gave me a high sense of satisfaction.
Pros
Good pay and pension
Cons
Long hours, loads of cancelled rest days.

Working as a Police officer is a demanding and challenging role with a multitude of skills required. There are numerous areas in which to work and progress once the 2yr probationary period is completed.
