St Austell Brewery Careers and Employment

About us
Founded in 1851 by Cornishman Walter Hicks, today St Austell Brewery remains 100% independent and family owned. St Austell Brewery operates a growing and diverse business.

It’s not just about our own beer; St Austell Brewery is also the South West’s leading wholesale supplier to the licensed hospitality sector, delivering beers, lagers, ciders, wines,
 – more... spirits and soft drinks to nearly 5000 bars, restaurants, hotels, pubs and clubs in South West England. Indeed company founder Walter Hicks, began as a maltster and wine merchant and today our Walter Hicks Wine business still provides a key component of our offer.

With all these strings to our bow it’s no wonder St Austell Brewery is one of Cornwall’s largest employers with over 1,000 full and part time employees, 300 working in our brewing, distribution and head office functions and 700 serving customers in St Austell Brewery’s 25 managed pubs, hotels and inns.

In addition to direct employees, St Austell Brewery’s 145 tenanted pubs also provide valuable employment to 1000s more across the South West. We also operate a local sourcing policy where we aim to work wherever we can with trades people, food suppliers, colleges and farms that are also within the local vicinity.

Very hard heavy job
Written by HGV driver and drayman (Former Employee) from St. Columb Major, Cornwall on 7 September 2019
Overall a average company to work for. In recent years middle management has made the draymans role much harder than it needs to be . A lot of heavy manual work that would suit someone under the age of 40 . Not really any aspects of this job that are enjoyable apart from a ggod salary .
Pros
good salary
Cons
Staff are under valued
