Thanks for your question, food is provided whilst on a placement. The cost is either paid for by SHC or the client themselves. Some clients are happy for you to share their food and will go shopping with you. If you have any allergies or food intolerances our clients will try to accommodate this when shopping (within reason).

Yes is the short answer. Anyone wanting to work in care are required, by law to have a DBS and or a PVG (only required if working in Scotland) background check completed before you commence work. This can be carried out & paid for by your potential employer or you can pay to have your own DBS/PVG check and then apply for the update service. Great question and one that often gets asked. As its a "Live-in Care" job you would live with the client and their family for up to 14 days followed by 7 days off, whereby you would return home. Some "placements" as we call them, could be longer, this is generally once a client has got to know you and just as importantly you've got to know them.

Once a candidate applies for the post of a Live-In Carer/PA he or she will receive an email explaining some basic information about the role of a live-in carer. The recruitment team will then review all the candidates CV/ applications forms and shortlisted those they would like to interview. The candidate will then receive an email inviting them to a Skype or FaceTime interview at a time that suites, which could be on an evening if you are not available during the day. At this stage we suggest that candidates prepare themselves for the interview by researching what is involved when supporting someone with a spinal cord injury. Plenty of information that can be found in the internet and on our website www.spinalhomecare.co.uk Secondly we suggest that you choose your location for the interview very carefully, ideally you would want to be somewhere quiet with a good internet/ phone connection, but we appreciate this isn’t always possible. If you’re in a public place, please make sure it fairly quiet so you can hear the questions & we can hear your answers and you have a good internet/ phone signal, trust us there’s nothing worse than getting cut off midway through an interview. If you’re calling from overseas please take into account the time difference. Like all interviews it will consist of Q&A session with an opportunity for you to ask Qs at the end so please try and prepare some. If you’re successful at interview the recruitment team will contact you by phone with a proposed job offer congratulating on you on your success.
