C1 Driver and Loader. (Former Employee) – Kendal,Windermere and Ulverston – 20 May 2019
I enjoyed working for South Lakeland District Council as i was never put under pressure to get the work completed and i got on well with all the staff.I was also able to go to different areas which i would never have been to before.
I was always finished by 2:30pm everyday unless i had a problem with the vehicle.
good crack with the lads at work but let down by management incompetance , arrogance and beligerance who seem to make and break rules and procedure to suit the days agenda including health and safety. rubbishwages Thank god I left- never again
LGV Driver (Former Employee) – Kendal – 26 September 2016
Can't fault my ex co workers, great group of guys. Lots of banter and humour helps the day go quickly. However, the supervisors (except one) and management within the depot are complete idiots. Given that they've all done the job it's surprising. No chance of advancement unless you're prepared to suck up to management.
Hostel Support Officer (Current Employee) – Kendal – 12 September 2016
Great company to work for. Working closely as part of a small and dynamic team. Excellent training opportunities. The chance to make a positive impact on an individuals life. Can be very demanding at times, especially emotionally, due to the nature of the work and the clientele that we work with.
A great employer, fair salary, physically demanding
Heavy Goods Driver (Current Employee) – Ulverston – 16 September 2014
SLDC is an excellent employer. The hours of work are excellent as is the salary, but we could all do with more money and the pay increases over the past 4 years have been minimal. My co workers are great and the job is very satisfying but as I get older the physical demands placed on my work leave me exhausted at times. Hence a delve into the unknown.
