36 questions about working at SOMERSET CARE

  • I would recommend Frith House (Somerset Care) to friends and family for employment and most definitely to friends and family looking for a residential home for themselves/relatives!

  • I enjoyed my job here when I first started but it has got progressively worse. The staff are over worked and miserable and this reflects in the care given. Many of the residents unfortunately have become hard to cope with on such a short staff level. Agency are used but don’t know the residents as well so don’t really care about the job as a full time worker would. They have no investment with anyone it’s just about money. That seems to be echoed in management who are willing to just fill shifts with anyone and are focused more on money than care. Unfortunately carers are not looked after and there is no room to grow here. Sunningdale has lost something and it feels cooperate rather than caring. Staff turnover is on the rise and I am looking elsewhere as I know others are. Very unhappy staff who are pushed daily to the limit and are getting to burn out. No support and management and upper levels are not listening to carers on the floor. So it just seems to be barking of orders rather than proper communication. Therefore most working here have lost respect for the company. Pay is awful for the amount of stress and bad treatment. Those threatening to leave because they are unhappy are just told “go on then” rather than being reassured. So you really are a number not a person. Complaining or reporting an issue or problem to seniors isn’t acted on and the messenger gets shot more often than not so most staff moan and grumble but are afraid to speak out. Taking it out on each other. The atmosphere and morale is bad and not improving and I find the job is becoming more and more institutional. Therefore unhappy worn out staff equals poor delivery of a care service. With new management we expected a good change and so far it’s seems more clinical and cold rather then the residents home. Come here to work if you are happy to be a slave like individual who has no opinion personality or has no ideas. You won’t be disappointed. If you value time progression, reward and fair pay and a happy team environment run the other way! Not a good place mentally or emotionally.
