Management awful there
Trade Counter Sales (Former Employee) –  Sidcup, Greater London20 August 2018
seriously would not recommend you working for this store... manager is shocking, promises the world, delivery is just negative negative negative.... don't expect eye contact when he speaks to you... no people skills at all......always a bad sign...
the staff are great but so overworked and stressed out by the management there. management don't help out just bark out orders and undermine the staff. they create alot of friction between staff members..
Pros

Cons

Worse branch is perry barr! Dont apply
Cashier (Former Employee) –  Perry Barr, West Midlands6 August 2018
Very Poor Mangement in this branch, only 2/6 managers actually know what they were doing. The others do minimal work, don't support their team what so ever. Youd be lucky if you get training when you start LOL I didnt get training till 3 months into working, was the only cashier on till and they're complaining I lack in knowledge of products. A bunch of jokes!!

No One supports eachother here, a group of lazy slackers who like to pass on work to each other and never what to do their jobs themselves, New comers always get all the labour because of their contract isn't permanent for 6 months. LOOL customers were telling me to leave, I could find a better job not worth it.
Cons
Long Hours

Order Picker (Former Employee) –  Kingsbury, Greater London3 February 2018
Everyday was like fight with time and management. Always not enough staff on all positions so management use you to do everything.
Very low salary for this kind job.
Usually people stay in Selco 4-6months and move to different company which offer 1.5/2£ per hour more.
Is good start in selco because after months they sent you on forklift training which is free but you will never see licence.
Pros
Forklift training, salary always on time
Cons
Management, mess, unstaff

Focused on expansion and sales figure. Competition with own stores.
Duty Manager (Current Employee) –  London, Greater London2 February 2018
The company is solely focused on expansion and sales figures.

They make an attempt to provide a nice working environment, but this is often disregarded due to stress of not achieving unrealistic targets and poor management.

The attempt never feels genuine.

Management is weak, they tended to buckle under the stress and nature of the business.

due to the high influx of new managers due to expansion, their inexperience and unfamiliarity to the business and industry frequently causes friction and chaos.

If you are friends with the right people, then you’re safe no matter how poor you are, unless you mess up really bad and risk your friend with the influence’s job.
Pros
Secure if you are seen as valuable in your role
Cons
Poor inexperienced management. Unrealistic goals. Stressful
