Do not drive for this company!!
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) –  Stafford, Staffordshire16 March 2018
If you`re a HGV driver, it doesn`t matter if you`re an agency driver or looking for a full time position give this company a very wide birth,,, VERY WIDE.. Although pay rates are pretty competitive believe me you will earn it, and the metaphorical whip is being constantly cracked. As any driver knows your work/life balance is always very lopsided no matter where you work, this is unfortunately is the nature of the occupation, but working for this company takes it to a different level, unless of course you are a member of the "prioritised" drivers!!!!
Those of you that know, will know exactly what that means..

As for the Transport management, the majority of them wouldn`t know the difference between a 5th wheel and a steering wheel, and this trickles down to the Transport clerks, and to be perfectly frank you`re very lucky if the language barrier isn`t a huge problem, this of course isn`t an issue if you`re one of the "prioritised" drivers.

So, therefore if you`re a HGV driver, it doesn`t matter if you`re an agency driver or looking for a full time position give this company a very wide birth, VERY WIDE!!!.
Pros
competitive pay rates.
Cons
Your tacho will take a battering.

Great pay and work hours, but management look down on you.
Despatch Operative (Current Employee) –  Stafford, Staffordshire1 February 2018
It's a good place to work for the money, but the management there don't appreciate the effort you put in they only see the mistakes you accidentally make. The staff that you work with are all good people and will help when they can but only have negative things to say about the people in charge.

Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) –  Stafford, Staffordshire9 November 2017
The work is easy and the salary is good. However the work is tedious. The most enjoyable part of the job is clocking out. And the hardest part of the job is staying there for 8 hours.
Pros
good salery
Cons
night shifts

Warehouse Operative (Former Employee) –  Stafford, Staffordshire23 October 2017
It is a boring warehouse job. It is so monotonous that you disconnect your brain. I learn how to use a LLO that is maybe the only one advantage. The hardest part of the job is to be walking 8h pushing a heavy trolley.
Pros
good salary, good people
Cons
difficult pick rates

Awful place to work
Warehouse Team Member (Current Employee) –  Stafford15 October 2017
This used to be a good place to work, however over the last 2years, there are new managers, they treat people like dirt. Couldn't care less about staff, always on at you to do more! Staff are leaving all the time, 44 staff left this company in August 2017. They now have to employ agency staff, lots of them. From what I've seen they too are treated badly, always leaving. The only positive about this place is the pay. Constant security searches at the end of shift, that's after you have managed to clock off, which takes ages. Do not go for a job here.
Pros
Cant think of any
Cons
Managers. Treated like dirt. Lots of foreign staff, lots of agency staff.

Warehouse Manager/Assistant Shift Manager (Current Employee) –  Stafford, Staffordshire29 June 2017
A typical day at work is to be very organised and motivated for the fast paced environment. Planning the week, the day even the hour. Managing all members of staffs productivity and conduct as well as their personal requirements. Attending meetings and redeploying staff when required. I have learned a lot about people management in terms of conduct and disciplinary procedures and operational structure . Management team is very good and work together excellently as well as the culture being communicational and mutually respectful. Hardest part of the job is personal problem solving as it can be very tough but I am professional and deal with it well. Love working in a team and working with a lot of different people and characters.

Typical day at work is no job rotation, same job everyday no difference to everyday duties. I learned a lot about the WMS and the operations of the company. Management were reactive not pro-active. The most difficult part of the job was morale. Most enjoyable was the people I work with

Day in the life of screwfix
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee) –  Stafford, ENG6 November 2015
Working at wincanton for screwfix isn't the most entertaining job in the world but for the most part it is quite enjoyable, a typical day for me can be one of two shifts the morning shift (6am-2pm) or the afternoon shift (2pm-10pm), during both these shifts I operate a reach truck. my main job role varies depending on the task I have been given, we have a replenishment role for when the pickface locations are running low or empty, another role is that of putting the pallets out of deep storage into the pickface storage so that it can be replened when the time comes, the last task is goods inwards in which you move all the pallets that come into the warehouse either into deep storage or straight into a pick location.
Pros
high overtime potential
Cons
long hours, bad management
