From the start it was a very poor initial impression, telephone interview ended with me being told, this pandemic has given us the best chance of getting the best person for the job, as so many people are being laid off, Wow...

This along with the amount of time and the lack of response from the Estates director and facilities administrator, should have served as a big red flag to how they are likely to treat their staff. A few weeks later and I guess when it suited them, I receive a call asking if I would attend a face to face interview, but not to worry as there is no more Covid cases in the building, well at least in the wing we would meeting up in.

I attended the interview as agreed, I was on time. Interview went pretty well and I was told he would call me the following day to confirm, yes you have probably guessed, several days later its confirmed with a start date. A real lack of people management skills, in fact I would say zero people management skills. On my start day, He was not available to meet up, so as a contract manager. I spent the day breaking up furniture with 2 labourers. This along with no autonomy, no decent staff, no contractors, no easily accessed trade account, no support, the support offered was another contract manager who was clearly set on making it difficult and being very ambiguous on how they worked. Maintenance staff were not happy and this as I understood was down to their skillset being lower than the requirement, which is what you get when you pay peanuts.

Needless to say I handed in my notice on the 3rd week and I can honestly

Management are rude scream and shout around the home in front of residents also slags of residents they talk about other staff members to staff you work all hours for them and they want more out of you they dont care about any member of staff if you do decide to go for the job the only staff that will help are the CTL. I feel sorry for the residents more then anything

I have worked at orchard Blythe for over 3 years. It is a lovely place to place to work and both the residents and staff are happy. There is a great atmosphere, we consider this a family rather than a place of work and staff often go above and beyond their duties. Manager is easily approachable if you have any issues that you need to discuss.
Pros
Great atmosphere, team work, a happy family
Cons
Can't think of any

I worked for this company for over 2 years. Mangers were bullies and I witnessed management belittling residents and upsetting them. They lied over drugs and forged signatures to cover up. They were constantly understaffed and pressured staff to sometimes work 72 hour weeks. There was never enough food for residents eg 2 quarters of sandwiches for teatime or 3 jackets to be shared between 8 residents

No support from management whatsoever. Often left short staffed and struggling to do the best you can. Runwood as a company have no budget for activities, leaving staff to fund from their own pocket things residents need. Shocking from a company this size. Shame on them

The management is disgusting. They try to force you to do over time if they are low on staff and try to make you feel bad when you can’t or don’t want to do the overtime. The management are rude and I called in sick one day and called them the following day to tell them I would be in and they told me that I’m unreliable and and they can’t have me work for them any more. Then they said why don’t you come into work and we might be able to sort this out I told them I get a lift to work and I would be paying for travel to come and see them as it was lunch time they asked me to come in. When I get there they said sorry but we can’t have you here any more your unreliable which they already said on the phone wasted my time coming to see them they are just a joke of a company and don’t care about there staff at all

I think in big comapanys of care is alot spaces from improvment .... The employers need to be more motivate to do there job , to have good salary , no so much stess make it by the ctm team , and to stop with positions and to do not forget all are just fro residents

So understaffed that dodgy care practice is being carried out. No time for anything, sometimes don't get a break because there is so few staff.
Slide sheets are barely used and I have seen other carers purposely ignore residents.
Pros
Sunday premium
Cons
12 hr shifts

Understaffed and overworked for very poor pay. Hours being cut to maximise profits for directors. Would be lovely to care for the residents as they should be cared for but understaffing means this is not possible.

The place is stressful, putting more work onto carers in which was carried out by other staff to cut costs. Directors not supportive to cares under stress, only care about lining their own pockets.
I strongly advise if you want to go into a care role do not work for Runwood Homes.

Malnush patents due to keep lowering the food costs. Hygiene of patients is lacking due to staff shortages machines frequently brake down. Giving rooms to mental health patient which we are not qualifyed to do. Allowing them to roam freely around our elderly patients. This isn't what we signed up for. Highly recommend you don't apply here.
Cons
No brakes due to staff shortage

Since joining Runwood homes in 2013 i have developed from a bank care assistant to a deputy manager. I am supported by my line managers and also have excellent guidance and support from various departments at head office. Regional directors take an interest in my development and i am enrolled on different training courses that stand me in a good position to progress further. I am in no doubt that this is the best company to work for in the health care industry. The company is a fantastic close knit family run business that strives to deliver the highest standards of care possible for the most amazing reasons. Of course my job is demanding and the expectation of a deputy manager is high as i understand it should be, i have daily challenges that make me stronger and i always overcome these with the support from my managers. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a rewarding job in the sector. As far as progression goes i feel strongly that Runwood homes is at the top of the list. I have worked in several different Runwood homes and all have been fantastic for different reasons. My current home is one of the largest, the home is relaxed, the staff all know their jobs well and support new staff to understand the Runwood way. My manager supports me daily in progressing and understands my vision and what i want to achieve within the company and fully supports with this. I honestly believe that Runwood homes is the best out there.
Pros
Competitive salary, career progression, Excellent training.

In reference to Glenabbey Manor in Newtownabbey. Management a disgrace, operates a home full of conflict between staff members. Unsatisfactory training for the position. Was made to administer medicine without being officially signed off. Would not recommend working here.
