I applied and did the online tests on 14th July, heard back today, 18th, with an interview in place for the 24th.

There is always the opportunity to do overtime to make up your wage. But don't rely on it. This is all traffic (mail volume) based, so the 25 hour contracts will be the first to lose hours when the work load slackens. But sick leave generates opportunities too. There are also afternoon collections available, or work in the mail centres if your truly keen to earn more.

It depends if you are in a sorting office that is permanent if so then full time work may be offered but if you are in a temporary premises then the chances of being offered a full time post are slimmer.

Royal mail take on any age from 17 but don't take on postman/woman on full time hours. All new starters are on part time basis because of seniority.

You will need a full birth certificate, with at least one of your parents name on, the short one is not accepted
