This was one of the best places i have worked. Although it got extremely busy from time to time and could be quite stressful. The overall culture and people in there was fantastic!

Money collector (Former Employee) –  Swansea4 May 2019
Unless you are given a productive route you dont make money. You only get paid if people pay. Over xmas i earnt £30 on a route that i would normally take home £115minimum. Bosses want you to give out loans to people who havent been paying and then complain and blame you when they dont pay on new loan

Customer Experience Manager (Former Employee) –  Leeds, West Yorkshire27 April 2019
Managers who can't manage. Used to managing self employed agents. They complain about not having time while overloading you. The managers manage 5 staff each and still can't do it well.

The home credit division has losses of 39million plus in back to back years. Look at the home credit division yearly reports. The changes they are making are more and more desperate.

You end up working in your time off, holidays are a joke. Bullying from managers. Changing work pattern.
Pros
Good for 3 months until you find something better
Cons
Terrible management, Working in your own time and lack of support

Don’t do it
Customer Service Manager (Former Employee) –  North West5 April 2019
Please don’t do it!!!

I went for an interview and was told that you work a minimum of 37.5 hours a week. No overtime and no hours in lieu if you work over the contracted hours. You are technically “on call” 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday. You have no set days off if your schedule to work you have to work and if a customers calls for you to collect you have collect the money.

In the telephone interview they make it sounds like you are scheduled to work 5 out of 7 days. Definitely not!
Pros
Money looks good but at a cost.
Cons
No work life balance, can’t plan your life.

Where souls go to die
Business Manager (Former Employee) –  Aberdeen4 April 2019
Please don't ever go and work for this company, you will regret it instantly.

Terrible morale throughout the company due to senior management having no idea how to actually run the company, instead choosing to spend their time sending out lots of emails with de-motivational rhetoric

You will always be expected to work over your contracted hours and not get paid overtime or TOIL, with no thanks for the effort you put in, only chastising when they deem you are not performing to "expectations"

Best thing that could happen here is a takeover and a full replacement of senior management
Pros
decent money
Cons
no work life balance at all, useless management

Bring down the average age of Senior Management
Manager (Current Employee) –  Northern Ireland3 April 2019
Seismic change in 2017 when the managers at HO tried to reinvent the Provident ‘wheel’.
Going down the employed route was a good idea but how is was implements was really poor. Masses of talented self employed agents felt worthless and moved on to competitors.
Currently the company is working hard to implement the recovery of the business however there are still too many in the senior management positions that do not know how to effectively coach and mentor their staff. Good performance not being recognised or when it is it is done in such a way that it is meaningless.
Everything is reactionary, from one week to the next the focus changes to something else. There is a mountain of stats and management information sent out to the field daily/weekly and it is difficult to stay on top of it all. Mountains of emails daily to attend to. Could be 100-200 to deal with after a weeks annual leave. When underresouced due to unplanned absence or holidays there is no consideration given to the massive effect that has on the area, the expectation is the same amount of work ‘has to be done’. There are varying levels of ability within the management team but everyone is treated the same regardless of ability.
I haven’t been listened to in quite some time and regretfully if the current culture doesn’t improve I feel I will be activity seeking employment elsewhere.

Customer Experience Manager (Former Employee) –  Salisbury, Wiltshire11 March 2019
Avoid this job unless you live to work , it’s constantly going as in from the moment you wake up to the moment you sleep your work phone is going off, emails , texts , calls . You have to work from 8-9 am - 8-9pm everyday by sending over figures in the morning then going out doing your loans / collections which you have about 100 a day to do! Oh and of course leaflet dropping on top . Then when you get home you have to count all your money make sure you got it all ect. Filling out forms for how many people you’ve seen how many miles ect ect. It’s an absolute joke. Good pay but you have no life!

Rant over.

CEM (Former Employee) –  Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire19 February 2019
The training was pointless and learnt nothing about the real job, mainly spent the week waiting for the software to download on the phone.

Once starting the job you have zero idea of what you’ll be working day to day and planning anything in your social life is impossible. It states in your contract that you work 5 days over 7 but that is not the case and when you work extra you can’t claim the hours back or get overtime.

The management in Middlesbrough were a joke and had no idea, the only thing they managed was to bad mouth the staff behind their backs which really shouldn’t be happening especially in front of other staff.

The best thing I did was leave this company which is being ran into the ground by laughable management.

Customer Experience Manager (Former Employee) –  Cheshire30 January 2019
The only positive was the training week which was fun, The training is nothing like the real world at Provident. They don't use the word "Targets" but they call it expectations. The Manager that was in my area was nice and friendly and the colleague I went out with the first day was nice and honest and I knew within 3 hours it was a mistake. Endless door knocking for people who avoid making payment but are clearly home. Trust me the customers that Provident supply know the rules and regulations better than anyone and it is soul destroying seeing people taking the absolute p*** out of you and the company.

Really do not work here unless you have a very very thick skin and are ready to be running around like a headless chicken day in and out.

A company in change
Quality Assurance Manager (Current Employee) –  Northwest21 January 2019
Provident is a company that is currently going through massive changes due to FCA authorisation. Provident has gone from a company making mountains of cash by operating in a way that may be seen as being aggressive in its sales and collecting approach. Now that they are authorised by the FCA these approaches can no longer be tolerated and this has affected how the company performs. Long standing employees are fighting to make their jobs relevant even though many of the jobs are no longer needed.

Company undergoing change
Customer Account Manager (Former Employee) –  Cornwall15 January 2019
I was with Provident for 4 months and all the time I was with them was while the company was undergoing major changes. The local management were very good and cannot fault the support, however they were undergoing so many changes that the job role turned into something that was not recognizable to the one offered. Only reason I left was for a more stable job role.

Decent Package

A very poor company to work for. All take and no give. All stick and no carrot
Customer Experience Manager (Current Employee) –  Bridgwater, Somerset12 January 2019
Whilst there are some positives, in that you get to meet and relate to some of the customers and once you are familiar with your territory, the job becomes a kind of 'Groundhog Day' experience. There is ever increasing demand for compliance and there is a culture of mistrust and constant criticism for any little infraction.
Pros
Independence to develop your territory how you want it
Cons
Very long, unpaid and unappreciated hours
