I found that the management style varied drastically between the three wards. Nepotism was rife. Staff would have full-blown arguments whilst in the same room as patients. Patients were handled roughly and inconsiderately even during simple personal care administration. RMNs made inappropriate comments to HCAs. Patients are bullied by staff to the point where other staff will try and stop them with no success. Patients often appear bored and over-medicated. Care plans are badly written and seldom updated. Wards are often understaffed and made up with agency staff who are unfamiliar with the ward and patients. Cigarettes are borrowed from patients for other patients without permission from the owner of the cigarettes. Patients are fed roughly and not told what the food is before it is fed to them. Patients are left unwashed for days with some never having their hair brushed. RMNs spend the whole shift in the office and ask HCAs to report to them so they can type their care-notes. Overall a real shame for the patients and staff alike. I don't suggest working there for anyone.
