Is it true you have to use mental arithmetic to work out change etc for customers as system does not do this for you? It just seems a little outdated. I'm due to start there this week and now I'm a little nervous!

Computers do calculations, but good knowledge required so mistakes are obvious.

It's a good thing to do. It keeps you on the ball. You can work out change on the horizon system if you want to but if the system goes down and things are manual then your arithmetic abilities have to come into play.
