I've worked at Policy Expert for almost 8-years. I wouldn't have stayed if I didn't enjoy the environment and challenge of growing Policy Expert into one of the UK's leading insurance companies. The approach to customer service is fairly simple - speak with customers the way you would like to be spoken with and always try to go the extra mile to ensure they're happy and their queries have been answered. The people at Policy Expert are great and make it a fun place to work.
Company is constantly growing and there's always new challenges, Free vending machines, We also support a local charity - so people can take time out the office to volunteer.
The atmosphere in the office is great. The managers and head of departments all get involved to make it a really comfortable yet competitive working environment. I've developed my knowledge and professionalism in a really short space of time and plan to work here for many more years.
Loads of incentives and prizes
Policy Expert is one of the best companies I have worked for. The culture is second to none and promotes its employees to take on challenges which really help develop you as an individual both personally and professionally. The most enjoyable part of my job is no two days are the same which means I am able to tackle different challenges and work with colleagues who are always wanting to make a difference which ultimately helps customers. Overall a great place to work!
Really nice atmosphere, attentive managers and a positive environment, with lots of encouragement. You're given the autonomy & support you need by TLs
Daily free vends, friendly and supportive management, Christmas party & Summer family day, employee of the month, daily incentives, flexible working hour available on request, close to all the shops and also the train station), further qualifications available, the company rewards employees for overall company achievements
Personally I would say there isn't anything fundamentally flawed, The company are always appear to be looking forward, Just consider the fact that its a growing company so change occurs a lot!
The company are ambitious, extremely fast paced and like to try new ideas. The company offer a supportive environment with a good emphasis on personal development. The work place is vibrant, fun and challenging so a great mixture.
Free Healthy Vend snacks, incentives, supportive managers
This is a company that isn't all talk and no action. They do what they say they'll do and they recognise that engaging employees and obtaining their feedback and actually doing something with it is essential to the success of the business. That comes from the CEO all the way down to the Team Managers. There is a great budget for incentives that is tailored to each team and there are office wide and department incentives in addition. You aren't just a number! The office itself is bright, colourful and lively with a kitchen and seating area with TV, vending means including a free healthy snack machine and hot drink machine. There is also another area with pool tables & bean bags that is a great place to hang out for a mid afternoon, lunchtime pool competition :) The staff get on really well and the culture is one of openness, honesty, hard work and recognition. I think it's fair to say that in previous years there may have been some challenges, however this can be said for any business. Over the last 3 years, the business has worked very hard to make it the positive, vibrant and rewarding business it is today. Expectations of your role are very clear, there is consistency with all processes throughout the business so you always know where you stand. The business itself has great ambition and has an exciting future ahead, it's very focused on providing a really good and positive experience to it's customers and this forms part of it's Quality monitoring process. So it's not just about employees and not just about customers, it's about both! Overall it's the - more...
Vending Machines, incentives, openness, consistency in HR processes
Limitations of the IT system
I worked here a few years ago. I didn't like the atmosphere. The Managers are very school teacher-rish and inexperienced . They prefer to crack the whip and micromanage you, than give you encouragement and motivate. A definite horn honk from me.
Pay isnt bad
The people & Managers.
Spend the majority of the day taking inbound calls from customers that have been on comparison sites to get a quote for home insurance and the job is to basically get the quote over the line and sell it. Easy enough however it is non stop all day and in a standard 25 minute call you will spend around 10-15 of it reading out endless FCA statements which just bore the customer to death which results in angry customers or customers who hang up resulting in a lost sale. Your are targeted by call/sale so you need to basically sell 1 in 2 calls you take whilst also trying to ram add ons down every customers throat. One of the most unrewarding jobs, you could sell 1 million policies in a day and it would make no difference, no recognition from management and no commision just a basic pay which is poor. They run ‘team incentives’ instead which are mostly just cheap token giftcards Managers are by far the worst part of the job as they are completely inexperinced and only look out for themselves, when things go wrong they will use things like your call stats against you and complain to their colleagues. They won’t waste 1 second to let you know your not hitting your targets and they will send you an email and CC their superiors to make you look bad. You will get a public dressing down if you are 1 minute late from lunch however if you take a call 1 minute before your shift finishes and spend an hour on the phone all of a sudden it’s “business needs”. An FCA regulated company and not allowed phones on the floor but one manager has it regualarly sticking out her backside - more...

Do these reviews help you learn more about working at Policy Expert?
Policy expert was a hard working and target driven inviroment, the hours were coftable and the lunch breaks were great. The training facility's were amazing and over time was always offered.
Over time always offered
Car parking was terrible
A typical day at work would involve dealing with any number of enquiries - and the type of enquiry and method would vary. I could take the enquiry by email, phone, live webchat and even Facebook, and the enquiry could be anything, ranging from claims, to complaints, to amendments in policies through to payments. This always meant an interesting and lively day which was always enjoyable.
Great team to work for, lively and busy atmosphere
Could get too busy as expanded too rapidly so staff levels were too low.
A relatively new company to the insurance industry Policy Expert has certainly made it's mark; a thriving and challenging environment which motivates it's staff and rewards success. Still learning and developing areas of improvement are after sales care; processes need to be refined to make them more streamline and efficient for the customer, initial induction training also needs to encompass customer care as opposed to being solely sales orientated. Learnt a great deal about the insurance world; insurance principles, FOS and FCA, Insurance Fraud etc. Enjoyed being a part of this growing and successful business and wish them every success for the future.
Rewards: Shopping Vouchers, Meals, Lunches
Long hours, after work meetings (8pm onwards), Inadequate training
