Store Colleague (Current Employee) – Essex – 20 November 2017
Really love working here but I don't want a career out of it. Its great working with animals and the company really does put pets before profit. I really dislike pet workshops, where we teach big groups of children about animal care, even if you are terrified of public speaking they will make you do it regardless. Otherwise its a great job, decent pay.
colleague discount, discount at the vets, lots to train on
Company doesn't care about their employees, doesn't even seem to be about the customers any more....it's all about targets...which I understand every company has...and how much money they can con off you. Higher management members sit in the office all day with very little help off other colleagues to face up, work delivery and most important help their customers...wasted years of my life working for this company....days are long and tiring with little or no thanks....don't do it!!!
No two days are the same with the variety of customers that shop there
Assistant manager (Former Employee) – Chester, Cheshire, UK – 22 January 2019
It used to be a fun place to work but over the last 2 years it's been a, fast downward spiral, they care not for staff loyalty and are happy to force long serving staff members out through bullying, if your face doesn't fit, you'll be treated different, the area managers have been put in place to get rid of experienced managers and staff. There is a culture now where, if you aren't liked, they will investigate and discipline you without giving you a chance to explain, while others will get away with making the same mistakes. And don't dare try and stand up for yourself or you will be suspended and potentially fired after they fabricate a bunch of lies. They care more about money than the welfare of their staff and more importantly the animals welfare
Bullying, holiday pay for part timers, lack of leadership
