Principal System Administrator (Current Employee) –  London22 November 2018
My salary has actually decreased since I first started with them, but I do enjoy the work/life balance and the benefits.
I also feel a bit left behind technologies-wise, as I have mainly been using company owned ones.

Oracle Review Summary

Oracle as a company is a very good company due to its various global business units. There is plenty of options and opportunities to work across different business sectors which the company focuses on. Ideally the main area is dealing with software and there is so much one can learn. There is plenty of opportunities to improve your role within the business you work and courses that you can apply for to help you progress in you career. Oracle University provides various opportunities to learn new skills to further enhance your abilities in your position.

The company allows flexibility with respect to ease of commuting to work. If your main working office is far away, Oracle offers options of working from home, remote worker by working at any Oracle offices through hot-desks. The company offered various benefits especially for employe health as they focus on ensuring that a healthy work life balance is maintained. There are various opportunities to join clubs from football, cycling, rowing, gym membership etc.

Overall, the company is great to work and the promotion opportunities range far and wide depending upon your role and career aspects

OK place to work
Senior Principle Project Manager (Current Employee) –  UK2 November 2018
Been working at Oracle for 10 years; culture is like most large corporations - a bit "happy-clappy American" at times, but it's not bad.

Colleagues are nice and knowledgeable

There is a lot of red-tape , processes and procedures that come with a large company; which can be a bit frustrating at times.

Despite making large profits, salaries have been frozen for most folk for the last 6-7 years, which makes for a lot disgruntled employees and a decline in moral or the willingness to "go the extra mile"
Pros
Work from home
Cons
no salary increase for last 6-7 years

huge organisation with opportunities for all. Currently re-inventing itself as a cloud service provider and this is crucial for future success. Software much stronger than Systems line up.

Good Benefits but doesn't have any loyalty to look after women who have been there a long time when it comes to restructuring. You are on a winner if you are a young man with a cocky attitude.

A toxic, cut throat culture
administrative (Former Employee) –  UK20 September 2018
A company built in the image of its leader. Arrogant, overbearing, aggressive.

It could be an OK place to work if you don't care about respecting or being respected by your colleagues,

An old company with old views
Communications Specialist EMEA (Former Employee) –  London and Reading15 August 2018
Oracle is a huge company with lots of opportunity for growth and collaborating with other lines of business. Unfortunately, it is an old company and so you have the typical "old" frame of mind. They are trying to change this though, with regular employee workshops or innovation and creating ways to do business. It is improving, but in some areas, such as gender equality in the workplace, it has a long way to go.
Pros
Depending on line of business, free lunches, excursions and luxurious events can be expected. Relaxed work/life balance.
Cons
It has a strict structure of the way they do things that cannot easily be changed.

Excellent working On Managed Sites
Oracle Advance On-Site Support Engineer (Former Employee) –  London7 August 2018
Work was busy and challenging but very enjoyable.

Working in a Large Datacenter I gained variety of experience, experience from Installing and configuring new servers to server decommissioning and server consolidation. Learned about cabling from patching end right upto connecting it to the server. Learnt about max power threshold in cabinets and cooling.

Working in a large datacenter we had good support from our manager and business groups.

Work Culture in a large datacenter is amazing we all worked as a team and made working thoroughly enjoyable. We built an excellent rapport with one another with the team as well with the customer.
Pros
Good training and technical backup
Cons
payrise and bonuses are non-existence

Hard working where you will be rewarded.
Senior Technical Support Consultant (Current Employee) –  Reading, Berkshire2 July 2018
Work day for a support engineer will consist of sorting your emails and contacting your customers where you will need to prioritize your responsibilities for the day ahead, so your not clashing with your meeting.

Management is focused on customer satisfaction and KPI's to be met regularly, this will be a weekly meeting for this.

Culture is office or home based work where you need to bring an effective team together to work on the most complex issues and finding out who is your best point of contact for the quickest resolution.

The hardest part of the job is is writing the Knowledge so that others can learn from your experience, Oracle is focused on allowing the customers transparency on many issues to avoid the need for engineers visits.

The most enjoyable part is the travel and the training new engineers and learning new experiences while working in diverse cultures across the globe.
Pros
Large company where you can go far if you put the effort in.
Cons
Long hours and no pay rises, you need to drive your career

Pretty toxic management styles
Financial Services Account Director (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London26 June 2018
I'm sure that a lot of enterprise sales organisations are similar, but the unrealistic, old-school and bullying mentality of the middle to senior management was a joke.
Pros
Some autonomy to run territory as you see fit
Cons
Management style, unrealistic targets, constant shifting of goalposts

Great resources and potential
PRINCIPAL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENG (Former Employee) –  London, Greater London24 May 2018
I have loved working with Oracle. The company has a vision that is clear and distinctive. There is an abundance of resources, of both manpower and technology.

The market share that it owns, makes it less vulnerable to minor changes and hence the ability to move between LOBS, from an employee point of view, is always there.

The company has a great senior leadership but should really invest more efforts and training in mid-management. The focus needs to move from day to day operations to building future leaders. The fear of competition destroys the new talent that has proven itself, time and again.

The salary packages are not at par with the market. It provides job security but the growth is rather bleak.
Pros
HUge learning opportunity
Cons
Stagnation and salary

Tech Support Not Valued, Just a number
Support Analyst (Current Employee) –  United Kingdom10 May 2018
Upper management in tech support are not interested in people, just purely numbers. They will fire anyone that is has had a bit of a lull in performance rather than talking to them and motivating/helping them,

They send out emails to entire business units threatening people will get fired if KPI's/stat levels are not met.

There is no personability about working at Oracle and favouritism is given to old ex-oracle employees that re-join. (they are able to work from home when others have to go into office every day).

You will feel un-valued and like just a number that can easily be booted out should management see a spreadsheet of stats they are not too impressed with.

Upper management are pure Oracle robots and treat the lower down members of support like rubbish.

You will be overworked unlike any company you have worked for before but still not get any recognition for it.

Only good thing is the benefits system is good and if you dont want the benefits you can take the equivilant cost as cash on your salary instead.

Other than that it will drain all the enthusiasm and motivation out of you and you will have no job satisfaction at all.
