Typical day get into office, the chosen few are allowed to do what they want, and turn up as late as they want as it's all forgotten about shortly after while the "non-favourites" get shouted at if their computer is not turned on in time even if you get into work early.

No opportunity to progress even when you're outperforming experienced members of staff who've been there or worked in the industry for years your still expected to sit on calls all day and take a barrage of abuse from customers with little to no breaks in between while management stare at the call monitor to make sure you are constantly in active status.

The levels of favouritism are clear as day to see, everyone's roles are the same in the office apart from management however some people get kept on calls ALL day while others get to chill in admin status and have a laugh and a chat while being able to be engaged in activities that may be going on, and if you ask your manager why they just punish you more.

I have worked for other big companies but have never experienced a clicky environment as much as this, prepare to get depression if you take this job on!!

Where to start? Management are absolutely terrible and laughable, ignore your concerns or issues and favourite certain individuals giving them advantages and fun tasks while if you aren't a favourite you are stuck dealing with abusive clients on phones all day every day, taking up to 100 calls a day and constantly criticised no matter what you do or how hard you work. It doesn't matter how experienced you are, how much effort you put in or how long you've been at the company, if you aren't part of the clique you won't progress at all and will constantly be put down and gaslighted. The job and environment drains everything out of you to the point every day you become so depressed and lose all motivation and even if you bring the issue up nothing will change and if anything they'll make your work life worse. The amount of people who have left the company due to this is extremely high and continued to happen without clearly being acknowledged by the company. If you happen to have time off due to illness or even a chronic condition, you'll return and be disciplined for it and they won't support you or follow procedure, you'll receive a warning, won't receive any meetings with management for catch ups and to check how you are doing and you'll be put back onto the mundane job while others thrive and enjoy their time doing admin based work and laughing and working slackingly. Some people have loads of breaks throughout the day while barely working and if you are one of the unlucky ones you'll get shouted at for taking one 10 minute break in the whole day. There's been times when you - more...

It's all about who you know in this place, several people get away with slacking so lomg as they are pally with management. It's heavily targetted around how much revenue you can generate and stessful. Quality takes a back seat but becomes your problem despite poor training.

Thrown in at the deep end, and they'll hide that you're inexperienced or a trainee from the client your assigned to.

Management are supportive at first when it suits them, but when it suits you not so.

Training was terrible, I wouldn't recommend working in one of their processing administrative roles. Worse places to work but if your not a fan of being pushed to always do better, even when your out performing experienced members of staff who've been their or worked in the industry for years on one hand bit lacking technical knowledge on the other because of their bad training....You'll be left out to dry.

Attend an interview and you are made feel so welcome and they promise you everything but boy is it different once you are there.

You will be promised training to which they sit you with a colleague on a watch and learn basis then you are thrown into the deep end to basically sink or swim. You will then be pulled over hot coals if you make mistakes YOU WILL BE HELD FULLY ACCOUNTABLE EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NOT GIVEN YOU THE TRAINING. There is no dedicated training programme with this company.

Typical day get into office, the chosen few are allowed to do what they want, mess about and laugh and joke with line management to the point your phone volume is on full and you still cant hear patients or your voice is drowned out but their silly antics like pushing each other around on chairs and speaking to patients like dirt. The minions are then expected to do the calls which are non stop, emails, reports, as well as other Admin and when you don't get it done the workers, are frowned upon.

What was learned was that if you acted the idiot treated, patients with no respect or empathy then you will be accepted and liked. If you sit there and work your fingers to the bone you will not be appreciated. Management is all very clicky one rule for them and their besties another rule for everyone else. If you don't understand something or you want clarity this goes against you if you ask your manager go ask a colleague quietly as this will be raised in your 1-2-1 reviews as a negative. If you are unfortunate enough to be off ill you will get penalised even with a doctor's medical note

The poor agency workers are always under pressure and scared of being fired, so they do their absolute best to stay there. However, the supervisors are very strict and keep the agency workers under the pressure, while contractors chatting and drinking tea all day. It is always a big issue, when poor agency worker has to stay at home because of a flu and he might even get sacked for it but some contract workers sit at home for 2-3 months in paid sickness (depression or some other nonsense) and everybody treats them as respectable people. So basically, some of them work 1 month and sit 2 months at home (or in Spain who knows) and get fully paid for it and then back to work for a month or so and then take a paid sickness for another 2-3 monts again. And moreover, contract workers are arrogant and treat rightless agency workers like a peace of **it. Never recommend this place to anybody.

Loved the working for this company and still have friends who I keep in touch with. Very supportive colleagues and management. Different every day, helping local authorities and housing associations with their use of the Northgate housing products

I was interviewed over the phone. Had a 2 week classroom induction, was ‘taught’ irrelevant & incorrect procedures. Then placed in a very unprofessional, open office environment where you were expected to be trained on the job by stressed & uncertain assessors who didn’t know if they were coming or going due to them also having received inadequate training and had poor guidance from their superiors. Backstabbing was horrendous. Take my advice & give it a swerve!

I enjoyed my time at NPS but I wasn't sufficiently experienced to do role in the end. Too much reporting, meetings, pandering to the customer made the project unclear in direction

The workplace is easy to get to and is a good sized place to work at. The people who work there are nice on the most part. The management need more training on how to manage people and listen to their concerns and needs to help them achieve their targets and get the best from them.

No management, the managers are unaware of employees. There is no empathy what so ever. There are zero changes to grow or polish your skills. A typical day at NPS is long and tiring with no productivity or growth.

A typical day is to cover different areas, 4 departments with calls and admin tasks, management helps all the time with any queries that I can't handle it, colleagues are willing to help if are not busy.
The hardest part of the job is to handle difficult clients specially when you don't have the answer they want. .

I enjoy the admin task like payments decisions.

Home working element seemed good at the time but you are a slave to the massive demands that are placed on you.
Do yourself a favour and choose a different company to work for. Take it from me you will not regret it.

They are a waste of time. Invite people to two-day interviews and then just tell you that you are unwanted to see(I can not even imagine what it means. No explanation. After all, everyone is worth the normal and logical explanation. In order to learn from mistakes). Low speaking culture. Managers need to learn about culture. And don't waste peoples time.

Northgate are totally different from other big public service providers who leach money out of tax payers with their bureaucracy and red tape! Working hear you are part of a dynamic team who will make a real difference to the lives of anyone using a public service Northgate are involved with.

Friendly working environment where there is a real family feel amongst the employees and team members looking out for one another.

I've been with NPS for 4 years, 2 of which were spent in the end user support team and the other 2 years spent on the 2nd line application support team - both great roles with lots of responsibilities. I have progressed in my current role due to my hard work and positive attitude towards work. I am now a highly valued member of an incredibly busy team . You must have a strong work ethic to work here and be prepared to pull your weight. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the incredibly tight SLAs - especially out of hours. however, you are rewarded with a good salary and decent benefits - Flexible homeworking is encouraged when required and you are treated as an adult which is more than can be said for other companies I have worked for... I can highly recommend NPS to anyone considering a role here.
Pros
Homeworking offered when required
Cons
Out of hours support
