About us
Newydd is part of the Cadarn Housing Group which was established as Newydd Housing Association in 1974. In 1998, a group structure was formed with the Cadarn Housing Group as the parent company and Newydd Housing Association as a subsidiary.

Cadarn is the parent of the Group and is a non-charitable housing association, its main role is to support

Newydd Housing Association is a charitable housing association that offers nearly 3,000 affordable homes for rent and sale to people where need is at its greatest in mid and south Wales. A second Group subsidiary was established in 2013, Living Quarters Wales is a company and is not registered as a housing association. Its future role is to provide private rented housing and housing for sale.

The Group’s vision is simply to provide affordable homes and sustainable communities with excellent services to tenants and customers. This is our goal and everything we do is intended to bring us closer to achieving it.

The Group is governed by Board members who meet several times a year to set strategic objectives, monitor performance and scrutinise important decisions. As the parent Cadarn has ultimate control, it can, if necessary, appoint members to the subsidiary organisations in order to take control.

A Group Audit and Risk Committee made up of Board members from across the Group consider internal control and receive direct reports from an independent internal auditor. We also have a Tenant Scrutiny Group that reviews service delivery and provides an invaluable role in improving how we work. Their ideas and recommendations are reported to the Newydd Board.
