all talk but no action kinda place
It's a good place to work if you are prepared for unstructured 'play it by ear' approach. You mostly get chucked into a deep end and learn how to swim independently. Different departments have different opportunities but with majority you are stuck in the same position for many of years with no clear progression plan. The vast majority of people hate working here. Friendly and relaxed environment does help to get by...
Intellectual level is varied. Most managers got into their positions through pure luck or through personal contacts. The whole place does lack a back bone. You'll find that you are either being micromanaged or left to your own devices, depends on your manager's mood. Hitting the brick wall when carrying out every day duties is not unusual. 90% of the time there will be no guidance so you'll have to figure it out for yourself.
Other than that, most people are nice and friendly, good flexi working arrangements, pension, sick pay etc.
