Slow and uninspiring
Regulation used as an excuse not to innovate / push the envelope. Management unadventurous, decision making slow and risk averse. Unenlightened view of flexible working.

Never work there again ever
If you want unrelenting pain for a pittance then National Grid are the toss pots for you! Useless incompetent numbskulls for managers, haven't got a scooby do about anything. Nuff said

Good place to work
No issues, good working culture. Parking can be an issue but otherwise a commutable site from the M40. I was a contractor at Warwick for just under 3 years.

Productive but Stressful
Good benefits, but workload is high and demanding with little to no reward for achievement.

Restrictions on spending/cost cutting are effecting the company in a challenging way and staff are left to wonder if they will get to carry out the much needed work.

Resources are low and cuts have caused more issues, although its always painted in another way.

The company would be a great place to work if the employees where held in higher regard and listened too by the directors.

Challenging Environment with ample Opportunity
Work - Life Balance is excellent as you are able to manage your own workload. Meetings are preferred using Webex. Projects are varied as is the project team. Waterfall, Agile and a Mix of Methodologies applied in projects. Strong culture of personal relationships to deliver is preferred.
Pros
Work / Life Balance
Cons
Little Project Support

Productive and interesting place to work
Good culture, interesting people, can pick up new skills and form excellent networks. Work is demanding and fast paced at times with a need to deliver quickly under pressure.

Great for getting experience
Great place to work and get experience in different roles, encourage sidewards moves. Warwick offices and modern. Car parking on site is a problem as not enough spaces and travel before and after work is grid lock.

Provides a good salary
The workload is straight forward and great benefits are given to employees. The working environment is not too strict but you are still expected to behave professionally like in any other business.

Fast paced and friendly
When working here, the management really did care and try to help as much as they could. The office where I was based was modern and clean. The role was ever-evolving and lots of ongoing training.

Great place to work
Fantastic people and lots of opportunities to advance if you are willing to put the effort in. Always lots of different projects on the go and opportunities to get involved in business change. It's an exciting time to be in the utilities industry and get involved in ways to help climate change and new technologies.

Toxic culture
Toxic culture where people look to push you under the bus to save themselves. Since the company is not worried about generating revenue the focus is to manage cost. Most cost savings are technical by moving opex to capex therefore pushing can down the street.

Great if you are an NG Employee
National grid is a great company to work for you if you are employed by them. I was employed via an agency which meant that everything had to be agreed via the agency. Upon appointment i was promised career progression and ongoing support. They, however lacked here - Underpaid and was not listened to. There were always some sort of boundaries for why they couldn't support progression, although my line manager wanted to push me as far forward as possible.Job satisfaction was always there in terms of work - but career opportunities and pay had soon enough put me off. The work ethic was great but many a times i went above and beyond, overworked and received little to no appreciation.
