Shocking place
scum (Former Employee) –  chester8 October 2018
dont bother going for a job here they will hire you for 3 months and if you say your mind they will let you go before the 3 months probation time is up. staff and management will throw you in at deep end and not show you how to do job, as your meant to know already. DONT GET BREAKS, when i asked i got told to hurry up so i can get break after a 7-8 hour shift (when i had finished shift), bit if your a eastern European you can take a break after 2 hours. managers haven't a clue how to run the shift or get the best out of people. lads on lorries have to fraudulently use tacagraphs to show they have had a break (in real life they are packing on line). working nights for £9 an hour with 30mins stopped for a break you don't get. if papers are late in you have to work until all papers out at shops. no help with going on new rounds, just told to do it. customers complaints every day and no back up. wouldnt waste my time with this shower, they are a sinking ship and know it

No prospects, But fine if you are just after a job.
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee) –  Menzies Linwood26 July 2018
I've been in the CSC for two years. New management took over and sacked 3 managers that had worked for them for over 20 years to cut down on wages.

So, no prospects of promotion or advancement unless you are happy to wait for one of the lower management to die.

The job itself is fine; you clock in, take abuse for 8 hours and clock out. Repatative, menial, easy, low aggro, managers don't really bother you unless you are blatantly doing nothing. Training is good. lots of help.

Menzies is known for being one of the worst companies in the world. Their service in everything they do is abysmal. This is mostly due to the management in the delivery branches being untouchable.

If you are comfortable working knowing that most of your efforts to help customers wont amount to anything then you should be fine here. Monkey's can do the job.
Pros
Easy, low aggro work, Shift patterns are early morning -handy for childcare
Cons
Zero job satisfaction and no promotion prospects.

Senior Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Stockton-on-Tees10 June 2018
The job can be straightforward if the deliveries come on time but sometimes there can be implications that cause the job to have a great amount of pressure but sometimes pressure is a good thing for some.

Newspaper Delivery (Former Employee) –  Stockton-on-Tees1 June 2018
Drivers start very early in the morning, so as to get paper deliveries to shops on time.
I learned a great deal about how the company worked, even though I was only a sub contractor
The hardest part of the job was loading the van with the newspaper bales and scanning them in shop order.
Pros
Out on the open road
Cons
Waiting around for papers to be delivered from publishing facilities

Packer/driver (Former Employee) –  Perth, Perth and Kinross3 March 2018
I started at midnight.was on the banding machine most of the time.the 2 supervisors were that ignorant if the banding machine jammed insteAd of stopping till it was sorted they would keep pushing the orders across.i used to loose the rag and push them onto the floor again..such ignorant people.then when you got back off your delivery’s they would sit in the office & expect you to unload the returns by yourself especially the tote boxes..they soon got the hint when everything was lying on floor of depot and van was parked never work for such a employer or supervisors (that was Perth depot )you do 2 jobs & get payed for 1 stay clear every depot is the same so I hear ..unless your driving either LGV1-2

Joke of a company
Picker/Packer (Former Employee) –  Paisley, Renfrewshire24 January 2018
Avoid at all costs. Management do not have a clue, supervisors all think they are gods gift.

Hours of work and the actual job within the picking/packing side of things is ok.

Supervisors think they are above everyone, its all about who is liked and who is willing too lie down and take abuse and harassment on a daily basis. If you aren't willing to be the aforementioned type of employee expect to be bullied out the door, management could not care less about the staff and do not take complaints about supervisors seriously.

Work can be dull
Scanning Operator (Former Employee) –  Glasgow, Glasgow8 January 2018
A typical day at work will be a 6am start it is a very goal driven job with the stats you need to achieve this can make it quite stressful. The hardest part of the job is having to do the same job every day if you like new challenges then it is not the job for you.

Great staff but senior managers don’t care
Customer Service Advisor (Former Employee) –  Linwood13 December 2017
I worked for a few years in the customer service centre. The staff were great all friendly and willing to help. The training was excellent a full three weeks before you went live and the trainer was great, even after training always willing to help Team managers were brilliant and would offer lots of support and trued to brighten things up by organising fun days and charity events. Job was let down by senior managers who only cared about stats and the fact company were not very good at the actual job (delivering newspapers) customers were vile and abusive. But if your living depended on getting a delivery on time from Menzies then you would be at breaking point too. Very early starts and minimum wage
Pros
Staff, training, team managers
Cons
Poor pay. Nasty customers
