Wrong question. It is a loaded question this one. I would ask, what would you suggest to MENCAP management to stop the wrong types of people from starting at MENCAP?

Easy, get them to do trial shifts, at interview they all say, yes, I would love to do that. Yes I can do that, lets see them really do it before we let them join us.

It is brilliant, lots of news and updates. Great conversation days. Opportunity to get involved in lots of things outside of your day job.

Not good. Can be flexible with some employees but not others. Some people were able to even adjust there holiday hours by working overtime during the weeks thus only putting in afew holiday hours meaning in some ways they would always have holiday hours to use at other times, wasn’t the case for everyone. Although illegal don’t be surprised if you end up getting pressured to work back to back shifts eg night shift and then day shift afterwards. People come and go so much that your shifts will be constantly changing. Don’t expect to have any sort of pattern in your working hours.

Our interview process is centred on our values and expected behaviours. We have a unique model which is called Inclusive Recruitment. The actual process can consist of structured interviews, assessment centres, multiple mini interviews and will involve a colleague(s) or person(s) with a learning disability.
In some instances a completion of a psychometric questionnaire may be required or competency based assessments.
