Railway Engineer (Current Employee) –  Birmingham9 May 2018
Although it's a zero hour contract they pay for your courses to keep your tickets active however you won't be paid whilst being on the course. They also provide fuel cards for the vans.
Pros
Fuel cards, paid courses
Cons
Zero hour contract, never know when your working or if you have a job next week.

Track Man (Current Employee) –  Different Stations12 March 2018
I learned there a lot about track and how to maintain it. I like working with fun. Management could be better. Usually we are doing night shifts: Re-railing, changing slippers, chairs, insulators etc. Cutting rails, installing the plates, fetelling etc. There is no hard job if is planned before.

Coss (Former Employee) –  Nationwide23 November 2016
Working on the railways although a hard job working long hours was ultimately rewarding with a decent salary and a good chance of advancement. I started off like most people on the shovel but quickly got myself upto coss (controller of site safety) level. I worked mainly doing track renewals nationwide.
Pros
Worked outside allover the country
Cons
Long hours hard labour
