Working within flight transfers requires a 40 hour working week. I work 3 early shifts commencing at 6am and 2 late shifts finishing at 9pm.
My first duty is to ensure all equipment is in good working order, turn on and load the days flight passenger figures for the day, plan a rosta to meet passenger flow, and organise staff in accordance. Ensure that staff breaks are planned for the day. I then allocate duties for the day.
I then deal with any problems which occur during the shift, reporting back to my line Manager as necessary. I then liase with Customer Services, Handling agents, Border Force and other airport staff and Managers to ensure the smooth running of the Transfer Area.
I hand over to the pm Supervisor at the end of my shift, detailing any ongoing issues or problems.
Additional duties include attending meetings as necessary. Doing health and safety inspections and conduct risk assessments as appropriate. To organise and conduct training of staff, maintain standards of work meet DFT standards. Plan staff release for external training and induct new staff in Transfer systems and procedures.
