Have worked for these people for number of years, in environmental dept, managers that haven't got a clue, a culture of bullying, backstabbing, everyone thinks they are in charge, people working in finance who have committed fraud, work for these idiots an you'll regret it,

Business Support Assistant (Former Employee) –  Lincolnshire28 August 2018
Every place has its problems but overall this was a good place to work, with the problems being more lighthearted than what you would encounter elsewhere. BUT they are very slow to move with the times and management sometimes would rather sweep a problem under the rug than actually deal with it. There's not much room for progression in Business Support because they give jobs out as 'runner up prizes' for unsuccessful interviewees from different directorates, meaning that often people are mismatched to the roles and the people with the most knowledge of the service area miss out on any opportunity for advancement in their area of expertise, also the recruitment process needs revising. It is slow, sometimes taking months and not effective for recruiting or retaining staff, it only causes problems and delays.
Other than that it was a great place to work with absolutely lovely people, a really secure job role and depending on your attitude, you can have job satisfaction.

A career that can struggle to love you back
Teacher (Current Employee) –  Corby, Lincolnshire30 March 2018
Teaching in general is high pressure, high accountability. However, when managed correctly, it can be the most rewarding and fulfilling of all.

After resources and classroom preparation, we spend time on team meetings each day before the children arrive.
Throughout the day, time is spent on lesson prep and delivery ensure high quality outcomes for all. Alongside this is the vast array of administrative tasks that accompany this.

Evenings, often weekends and much of the holidays are spend enhancing these areas and completing directed tasks.

LCC provide a lot of guidance and support for schools on how best to tackle issues and improve. Whether local leaders take this on board is still hit and miss.
Pros
Sense of fulfillment and achievement at the chalkboard.
Cons
Excessive red tape and accountability.

They talk but don't deliver. Main concern is to provide statistics saying how good they they think they are whilst not providing money to achieve the bare minimum service.

Solid council work
Digital Communications Officer (Former Employee) –  Lincoln10 July 2017
It's a solid enough place to work although local government cuts mean there is some issue now with future job security. Management procedures can be frustrating as a lower level staff member but you're not typically pushed to tough timelines. It's a comfortable working environment and, if you have nice colleagues, a relaxing place to work.
Pros
Flexible lunch period
Cons
Some old management processes are frustrating, individuals can be stuck in their ways but have authority to retain their decision.

Not for the faint of heart.
Class Teacher (Current Employee) –  Skegness, Lincolnshire13 May 2017
Teaching is not a career to go into if you're looking for an easy 9 -5 commitment with no take home baggage. It's the sort of job that will consume as much of your energy and time as it can, you'll find yourself laminating sentence openers at two in the morning, or waking up at four when you realize you forgot to buy the extra flour for the salt dough animals your making that day. Holidays will involve changing displays and updating your class webpage, and you'll dread your morning wrangle with the photocopier.

Having said that, there are rewards for this effort - and it's the children. There's something incredibly special about opening a child's mind to the world around them and helping them explore it.

If that's enough for you, then go for it.
Pros
Rewarding relationships with fantastic little people
Cons
long hours and dipping into own pocket for resources
