High turnover in staffing most units due to lack of support to employees by management, they are more concerned with targets than clients needs which in turn makes the job more challenging and stressful

I have worked here for almost 3 years and haven't through no fault of my own started my SVQ like was promised in my interview.

The management in my unit have no regard for a work life balance, the salary is poor at best, with minimal benefits for working extremely unsociable hours.

It is a really good company with high standards of service.
There is never two days the same, every day will bring new challanges. The inhouse training and support for the role is second to none.

My role other than making breakfast lunch and dinner, support with medication, and assisting with personal care is to make the people i support feel a valued member of society i.e supporting them in short term goals and long term either on outings to activities or social events
Pros
a good insight of people with disability

assisting people who have disabilities to live as independenly as possible. Administering medication, assisting with personal hygiene. Helping to make life plans, education/training, pursuit of holidays. writing up menu planners, assisting to make appointments for medical reasons, organising their finances. I have learnt about medication management and reordering, how to assist with a life plan, my coworkers have taught me a lot and I in turn have shared my skills and experience with them. The hardest part of the job is the hours, I sometimes finish at ten at night and have to be back the following morning at seven fifteen.
I enjoy working in the team I am in, and helping one of the residents to acheive their goal and to enjoy an activity that I am helping them to participate in.
Pros
good team
Cons
long hours
